Chariot! (2 Viewers)

Vicki...

did you guys come up with a price yet?

I was hoping with just 2 figures...
2 horses and the chariot...
the price might be pretty practical...
I know you said it was hopefully going be be cheaper than the elephant...
which I purchased...

any news on price yet?

I really like T Gunn, from my posts you will see I am a big fan, but is am not sure of this set, firstly the figures look a bit too 'Hollywood' for me, they remind me of Asterix the Gaul,

Plus not sure on the Ponies, they just look like shrunk horses, with chunky legs, but then I think there are few horses on the market which actually do look any good.......

This post may not be liked by some people, but it is an opinion, right or wrong, that is all it is. Lets keep that in mind before we go 'Off on One'. I spend about £150 to £200 a month with TG and they are great, but this one does not do it for me.

I know what you mean about the Ponies / horses, which deviating for a moment, with the WB Zulu war issue for lancers and Natal Police I could not buy for a similar reason, though with them they just didn't look right at all.
But with these TG ones, I think while they are what we in the 21st century would think of as miniature but back in the day Ponies / horses were much smaller and so I think TG are trying to reflect the actual size of Ponies / horses in the Iron age.
and so personally I feel fine with their rendition, but can see where you are coming from.
As for Asterix and co, there would probably be quite some interest if TG were to do them !

Possibility copy right issues, but I would love to collect Asterix if they were ever made. Robin.

I agree they could have been smaller, but ponies look a lot different from horses and are smaller, but using a smaller mould of a horse does not make it a pony. For me they just do not look right, I guess I am waiting for some Brits, Celts and Picts to fight my Romans, I have a Century of T Gunn 9th Legion just hanging about on guard duty and getting drunk, they need to get someone to have a bust up with.

I stopped buying W Britains, the horses have always been a little suspect............

I can't say for sure...

they do look undersized in the first picture where they are charging left...

but it may be an optical illusion...or maybe it's just me...

they look perfectly normal in the second picture where they are charging right...

Fair enough, you either like them or not. You'll have funds for more Legionarys / Warriors instead.

Possibly I am being a too early in my view and I should wait until I actually see the set and I will hold my hands up and throw myself on the mercy of Treefrog if the set does look alright when I see it. On horses, I thought the new J Jenkins Roman horses look good.

I think Del Prado or one of those magazine and figures series did do Asterix and co including a village, but much smaller than 1.30 scale.

Steve

For sure at that price it's going to put a lot of potential buyers off including me !
Still we've not had the official price release from TG yet so fingers crossed it'll be an acceptable one.

Steve

how did Maison Militaire get a retail price that they post on their website if not from Thomas Gunn?

somebody help me with the math on figuring a price...

330 Euro is about $390 US..

you get...
two horses...
2 figures...
and a cart...

just pricing on previous figures as a guideline...

FFL009...(Mounted Officer)...1 horse and 1 figure...retailed for $79.00

that's $178 for 2 horses and 2 figures...

then add the cart to that to come up to $390.00...

that's an expensive cart...

over $200 US...

I like it...and I want it...

so I'm hoping Masion Militaire's price is incorrect...

So am I Mike !
And the price is Pounds not Euros which I think makes it dearer !

Steve;

And, Andrea Miniatures made a 54mm 'White Metal' Asterix series.

Re: Chariot! which version si correct

Hi all some one posted a painted version of the Celt chariot , the celt in the back has a roman spear
no celt standard like the prototype pictures listed here, hopefully we get the standard as it highlight the piece a great deal, the spear is boring and TG use the standard

It has been a while in the making but please find attached pictures of a new offering for the Roman series, we hope you enjoy these preview pictures and will send more news soon.

Best wishes

The Gunn Team

Price on the Maison Militaire website is £275.

MM website includes VAT in price so not sure how you got £330

Hi Gazza

At the time of the original posting the price on MM website was advertised at £330, now I see by checking website after reading your post, that it has changed down to £275 which is great news as it makes it much more affordable.
I think they must of added VAT twice. Add 20% to £275 and you get £330 !
And if in US then you'll be able to get it cheaper still.

Steve

I prefer the warrior with the spear in a more fighting pose then the banner. The spear shown is a Roman pilum, which i hope they will correct. Regards Greg.
