Whats with a the secrecy anyway?!
That's just BAD MARKETING!
He should be telling everyone what he's going to release to build up the hype and deter others from releasing the same thing.
He should also be teasing us every week with a new pose photo up until the actual release!

Right on! Preach it brother

I take it back, ONE WEEK of secrecy before a big show is OK, but keeping your release a secret is a waste of momentum and invites problems.
If I was going to do WWII FRENCH, I'd want everybody (especially other manufacturers) to know, so they steer clear and choose another subject.
We've seen this happen on a few occasions, these small companies need to make their money back asap, it doesn't hurt sales, but it slows them down.

Well its not long to the show so we don't have to wait too long..... Its definitely got us all interested though!

I paint ww2 figures as a refreshing change to my main areas which are ACW and Napoleonics

It's his call. If that's the way he wants to, it's up to him. We'll know soon enough. I haven't seen people jumping on TSSD for not announcing his new kick-starter type plan.

Actually I have a problem with the kick-starter also!
YES, I would want to know what I'm investing in?!
A secret for a week can be a good thing if there is a payoff?

Didn't want to start a new thread but looks like someone will start a Viet Nam plastic line at OTSN.
On TSSD's web site there is a line "VietNam coming to OTSN" Then underneath "By John Stengal" Now one would assume it's Stengal finally coming out with what he showed at last years show. But I don't think Nick would post about someone else's product. But as others posted on Stads site. Nick is a veteran, I,ve seen Nick reference various service outfits from VietNam. Nick's new project "Go for the green". Can't get much greener than VietNam. My guess is TSSD will do Nam. Nick is clever in not revealing all his cards but enough hints that one can reasonably figure it out. Hope I'm right about this.

Cancel the above! Stads is now posting that TSSD is not doing VietNam but Stengal is. So take it for what it's worth. We will know in a week. Another plastic mystery.

Can someone attending the show take some photos of these Vietnam soldiers, your opinion of them and post a contact to acquire them? Thanks in advance.

Just checked the list of dealers for OTSN 2015 and Austin Minitures is not on it. I had heard some news about them earlier which was not good. I would assume his Japanese figures might be on a permanent hold. This isn't the first time some independent collector thinks he can create his own line and make a go of it. Not good news.

It's clearly not easy. I tried to do it myself about 12 years ago but, probably fortunately, I got sidetracked. Nick's news that it costs three times more to do a set now, than it did when he started, shows how hard it has become. Even with all his knowledge and success he is struggling to do new sets.

Expeditionary Force seems to be having some success. I see their WW2 didn't hit the mark with everyone but their Ancients are excellent. I really hope they can keep going.

I was one of the biggest complainers on the XForce figures when they came out because of there size, not fitting with any thing else.
Well I sat back and came up with this. A friend paints plastic figures, not museum quality but decent for only $1.25 each.
I said why not have these painted and do a seperate line of WW2 figures. So I ordered the special package direct from XForce. Got the figures and to my delight they all came with seperate arms that could be interchanged with each other. I now could create entirely new poses most with no cutting what so ever. I absolutely love these figures and intend on buying more. So a major disappointment turned completely around. I would only hope that they don't abandon the WW2 line.

I bought four different boxes of the xforce WW2.
They fit really well with my existing figures.

You're been mis-informed. Austin is there. Talked with them today.

Just a quick Chicago plastic report. Yes Austin is there but I don't believe they have the Japanese figures. Steve Westons surprise WW2 sets was in fact the new Engineer Bassovich set ot Yugoslave partisans so actually only one set.
John Stengal has his new VietNam U.S. figures. Only about 30 sets which he is assembling at the show, more will be available in a few weeks. Nice figures but the large size trend continues. These look to be close to XForce size which means they probablly won't go with the few 1-32 21st VN vehicles. TSSD has the new ancient line, however since I don't collect ancient I did not pay much attention.
More later.
