I was just wondering if this time around is your first time at the Chicago Show, It's my first time:D:D.

I have not seen any Chicago Show posters like they use to have at the show. I have a colored 1989 Chicago poster hanging up and I had other posters but have not noticed any new ones the last few years. Anyone know if they still make show posters? These posters were about 19 inches wide and 24 inches long. Colored posters showing different toy soldiers. Leadmen

Hi Col. Hesler,

The 2008 OTSN show will constitute the third time I have been able to attend. It is an experience I would like to have every year. I know you will find it every bit as exciting as I do! I look forward to seeing you there!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Hi Vamp,

Yes, I am planning to make the trip this year, assuming nothing unexpected happens that might prevent me from attending the show. I will definitely plan to see you there!

I am pleased to learn that Wrongway has recovered enough to make the trip. The local fellows were quite worried about him and they plan to send him another gift to further speed his full recovery. They have asked me to deliver it to Wrongway in Chicago. But, please do not tell him. They want it to be a surprise!

I look forward to seeing both you and Wrongway in Chicago!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Pat,
This is going to be a great year I am glad we are in such an economic downturn. I do not think I would be able to handle the excitement if it were a prosperous year!

PS Would not mention the other guys to W. he turns bright red and starts shaking uncontrollably:p

Prepare to have your minds boggled. I barely bought anything the first time I went, I just walked around and said ,"oh wow".

This is only #2 for me. Fortunately my friend GK5717 helped me out a lot. Some of his good suggestions included get the floor map and bring paper and pen so you can jot down items or rooms of interest. The floor plan can get confusing and it's hard to remember what room you saw that cool item at a great price. Making notes makes it easier to shop around.

Another suggestion - make a want list. You will find all kinds of stuff from treasures to trash and covering many eras. I go for WW2 stuff myself, but there are so many neat items and great displays it is easy to be distracted!

Many rooms have nice displays and it's fun just to see how some things are presented. K&C always has some great dioramas by Gordon (Andy's brother).

Have fun - it's quite an event.

Does anyone have a down loadable map? I think the organizers should have some things to help out here. But then again they are really only responsible
for the show and seminars I guess. Do we know what floors the dealers are going to be on this year?

Isn't it usually the 3rd and 4th floors?

Yes. I have maps and layouts from the last couple of years shows in my "redwell" full of brochures, price lists, etc. that I bring to the show. Usually, there are new handouts of maps and lists of the dealers rooms available early in the Wednesday-Thursday period before the show, which are pretty essential to keeping track of where you have been, and what you have seen. I hope the new ownership are going to permit similar maps/room assignment lists.

Be aware that the rooms may have changed somewhat... I know the connecting rooms that Ron Barzso has had for years no longer exist as connecting rooms.. He'll have a new location...
