Choices (1 Viewer)

I buy specific items in AK – EA – WS – FOB ranges and all items in BBA – BBG – MK – RA ranges.

No KC aircraft – I collect Corgi aircraft – German – American Bombers – British Bombers.

I am a tank freak, so I mostly have K/C armor and vehicles......I do not try to collect lines as such, but pick out unique looking pieces....the LRDG stuff are must haves because they are different. Like others, I have started to pick from the singles pool ,for choice action figures....As to my other lines, I buy near exclusive WW1 from a friend of mine and Napoleonics from another buddy, and Edmunds only ,for ACW. That brand loyalty helps keep my collecting manageable and not overwhelming.........Michael

After a time most collectors decide to stick to a period and or theatre. I have mainly stuck to LAH, Waffen SS and Afrika Korps sets but the new LRDG stuff will be hard for me to resist.

The Chev and Jeep will be must haves for most WWII collectors. And I'm another collector that didn't get around to getting the Figarti version.......the figures just looked to big for the jeep to me. Despite some errors with the accuracy of some K & C vehicles now and again, their figures are hard to beat.

I use to be that way - I collected only American Revolution and Civil War. Then Tim Tyler kept sending me the brochures of the new Napoleonics that would come out and I gave in and started them. Then one day I found this forum and all of you WWII guys started talking about how great the AK's were and how great the WS's were and the rest is history.

Now Andy has made a personal commitment to break us all with these great releases - I am doomed.

I am finding it so difficult to rotate my collecting,i collect the following;
D Day,North Africa,Bulge,Waffen SS,FOB and hope to start WW1 at some point soon. But whenever i think 'right i'm going to collect from so and so range this month'..Wham something else come along and out the window goes my plan!.Oh well in a world of Terrorism, flooding and now (apparently) mad cow disease again its not really a problem is it?!,more of a collecting dilemma!!:)

I'm going to stick with the FJs to go up against the FOB Brits i've bought recently.
The choice is awesome but means you have to make drastic decisions as at the moment it seems there is always something better coming out next month.

So recently it's been kind of like oh those FOB Brits are awesome gotta get those then oh those FJs are awesome i'll wait for those instead then wow those LRDG are amazing i'm going to wait for those then it'll be OMG those British Paras are cool beyond all words I must wait for them instead!

So yeah choice is a great thing but maybe it means individual ranges don't get a chance to shine.

Hi Eazy

The point you make about ranges getting to shine is a good one,
I wait for the dispatches and then spend a week or 2 deciding
what if anything i,m after ,by then where half way through the
month so I think hang on i,ll wait and see whats coming in a couple
of weeks [spoilt for choice] and wait for the next set of dispatches.

It still doesent stop me going for the pieces i realy want i.e recently
retired bulge halftrack or new Eighth army stuff as no matter what
else is released i,ll have no regrets about getting these sets.
But thier are a few others I would have jumped on that have been put by the wayside due too new releases.

Its ONLY August and WOW - Look at all this stuff !

I hope Andy doesnt have many more new Ranges - my collection seems to e going in 8 different ways now. Oh the good ole days when Napoleonics and AWI were my only concerns. ;)

Yes i am struggling to keep up my WW2 strategy and i hear WW1 calling me too now.Whats an ex postie to do?:D

Rob,
It's simple for me at the present moment. I'll pick up the Crimea War Set 1 next week and also get Little Boss her Kubelwaggen for the sake of domestic harmony. But unless I want to live in a tent in future, I'll have to wait another ten weeks before I can afford the new LRDG stuff.
Hmmm...tent....maybe not such a bad idea after all....:p;):)

I have a cunning plan for Harry. He could buy an ex army tent and set it up and pretend he's in the LRDG. His wife would think he's gone cuckoo then buy all the new K & C LRDG stuff for him to speed his recovery. It just might work ;)

Would'nt work Oz.
She'd just go ahead and buy all the SooHK, Imps and LAH stuff she wants in the belief that would speed my recovery. Whereas it would only result in the final demise of my bank balance.
Have done a pretty good job so far of hiding the K&C catalogue from her. All Little Boss gets to see is the updates that Fanny sends out....and that's bad enough....:p I have noted recently an increased interest in the Crusader range, "Oh, this one with the flag & horse looks velly good-aah, Hally daah-ling". So I might get her a couple of those along with her Kubelwaggen in a few days time.
See.....I'm on the slippery slope already, must, simply MUST, leave the credit card in the hotel safe. :(:p:)

If he wants to be taken for completely mad he needs a pair of underpants on his head a drinking straw in each nostril and he needs to say 'Wibble, wibble'!!!:D

A chip in each nose, a pair of socks in the gob (or was it an apple - can't remember) and the credit card in the fish tank....:D:D
