Chuck Harris...The Passing of a Friend! (2 Viewers)

This has been very difficult news.
Chuck and I were good friends and it has been like a loss of a family member. His health has been deteriorating over the past several years. We have known each other almost since the beginning of Treefrog Treasures. We had a great time meeting in person several years back after talking by phone for so many years when was able to make one last trip to the Chicago show. He had quite a time getting the airlines to cooperate with his oxygen tank and I'm not sure his doctor was thrilled about the idea but he loved getting the chance to see so many of his forum friends there.
Chuck was so proud of his grandkids (Nick is a computer whiz among his many talents) and he was so pleased with his granddaughter's choice of spouse. He loved his dogs like crazy and I like to think of him reunited with Patch whom he lost to illness a few years ago and who occupied a special corner of his heart.
Chuck always had great stories to tell, took time to let people know he cared about them and was always interested in what was going on in their lives. He was great at connecting with people. He was a true gentleman and an all around wonderful guy.
He lived with many frustrating medical issues which were a direct result of his military service to his country.
He was one of my favorite people and I will miss him.

I spoke to Chuck many times on the phone...........Great Guy......Loved his accent......And I most of all respect his service to our Country.

I didn't know Mr. Harris but from what his friends say he was a very good and honorable man.R.I.P. soldier.

wow, i am really sad to hear this. we used to talk about all sorts of stuff. he'd been a friend and customer for 15 years.

I had the pleasure of meeting Chuck at the Chicago show years ago.......great guy and will be missed. Cant help to think that he is at peace now as he should be after his faithful service to this great country.

I'm Michele - his daughter.
I have to say reading all of your well wishes and reflections of my father has been very touching. Even after a little over a month of his passing.
I thank you for that.
I stumbled onto this forum by accident yesterday while doing a little research on one of the figures I have. Imagine my surprise at seeing my father's name come up in one of the replies and then seeing his avatar of Patch.

Welcome to the forum Michele--your dad was such a great guy.
Best regards,

I just learned of the passing of Chuck Harris and I am very sad. Chuck was a wonderful man and always a pleasure to speak with. I had the pleasure of having quite a few conversations with Chuck over the years and even though his health was growing worse he always had a smile in his voice especially when speaking about his family.

I will miss speaking to him again, but he will be in my thoughts.

I received a PM from Chuck's daughter a couple of days ago, letting me know she had found something Chuck had left for me. I received a small package from her today, containing one of his Navy SOG Coins, engraved "TO: LOUIS B. FROM: HARRIS, C.T."

Chuck is still such a good friend. I hope that he and Larry are having a couple of drinks and discussing toy soldiers in heaven right now.

Simply outstanding! Thanks for sharing and bringing both of their memories to the forefront.
