Civil War Reenactment Cancelled (1 Viewer)

Highly irritating to say the least although in this case, this one was changing so it was more the crap that happened the year before more than anything else. I feel bad for my son who is becoming a history buff, he really has to search my library and out of print books to find anything factual and decent on our history. The BS that is peddled today is riddled with someone's political beliefs instead of the cold hard facts, good bad or ugly. It pretty much disgusts me.

That's sad! Ours is still on this weekend luckily!
Should I be flattered that Aaron from the History Center borrowed some of my photos from last year for the page???? :rolleyes2:
Small but still a fun weekend. LOADS of families!

From the article "We can tell the full story of the Weir family, the enslaved that lived there during that time, and what was going on at the house in 1861 and 1862." So, if it isn't centered around a slave or slave family the story's not worth telling. I attended the centennial Manassas re-enactment as a young boy and it really fired my imagination to learn more about the ACW, which continues to be a life long passion. Not sure seeing re-enacting soldiers sitting around the cook fires of an encampment (see the article) will have the same effect as viewing thousands of soldiers and dozens of cannon firing in a simulated battles. It's just more PC dung and will continue to get worse. I'm sure there will be a lot of criticism of those depicting the Confederate arms in other re-enactments. Chris

The nonsense never ends but its allowed,,,Latest is the "All saving ,,all proving body cameras on cops " aren't acceptable any longer,,its "doctored etc' video,,lets riot

I saw that article, and when I read it, it occurred to me that re-enacting is suffering from some of the same trends in our society that impact our hobby as well.

Prost!
