Totally UN-PC too......

I loved Benny Hill .He was great.

Great minds, eh?^&grin -- Al

Absolutely Al! :wink2: Also agree with your Bonanza comments, has not withstood the test of time very well and Bonanza - The Lost Episodes should have stayed lost.

Back to Combat, there were two indications of a possibly disappointing show in the opening credits of a Combat episode, the first was Rick Jason getting top billing and the second was that there was going to be a female guest star ... both sent a strong signal of there being a lot less "combat" in Combat. :p

Yep. I'm a Sgt. Saunders fan. Liked Hanley in the Hills Are For Heroes 2-part episode, but even that was directed by Morrow. Hanley had too many 'secret squirrel' type missions where he was undercover, behind enemy lines, not a typical Infantry officer type stuff. Didn't care for the love interest stuff when it surfaced, either. Always wanted Saunders, flying bullets and explosions. Thought the best episode was Anatomy of a Patrol, where Saunders and his men squared off against a German squad led by James Caan as the German NCO and assisted by William Smith as one of his men. That episode had everything Combat! was good at. -- Al

Combat! was a favorite of Dad & one of his bros.: as well as many mentions on this thread so I ask:
Why doesn;t anyone play it on cable or free streaming?!
I've seen just a few episodes. All great.
I'll have to find it even if it costs $2/month!

For something even more different:

Fawlty Towers 'tis the bomb.

Best Wishes
Paddy

Combat! is shown on a cable channel called Heroes and Icons (H&I) every Saturday night at 10 and 11 PM. It has been running for at least 2 years on a constant loop. The episodes can also be found on Youtube. The H&I Saturday line-up also includes Black Sheep Squadron, Tour of Duty, Rat Patrol, and 12 O'clock High. And, I agree, Farty Towels is the bomb.^&grin -- Al

Hills Are For Heroes is excellent as is another 2-part epsisode What are the Bugles Blowin' For, but
have to agree that Anatomy of a Patrol is hard to beat.

And yes Paddy, Fawlty Towers is a Brit comedy classic ... and, of course, Monty Python.

Combat was one of my favorites. My recollection though was the combat in combat was in the opening of the show and then hardly any action after. When I was kid, we played combat with each kid announcing I'm Kirby, I'm Gage, I'm Sgt Saunders.

My two favorites were "The Andy Griffith Show" and "Hogan's Heroes"
