IMO not very fair for FL if a thread is closed showing a new release of their product !!

Couldn't the forum just delete the BS and ban the villains involved why should manufacturers bother if your just going to close down new release threads ^&confuse^&confuse

I take the point but the hundreds of posts that the FL and TG threads attracted must represent some excellent publicity. Many posts might have been negative but most posters were very, very positive. The old saying that the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about might hold true.

In any case, I hope all goes well in the West.

I can see why they closed it...
it was so redundant and was getting a little argumentative...
still...
I feel bad for the fans of FL...
and Matt's oranger...
that they can't sing it praise on there...

if it were a world renowned scholar telling me something was not right, I think I could stomach it but it is about as far removed from that as you can get. Sometimes passive aggressiveness can work if you get my drift.

Guys I reopened that thread the other day after I edited out all the Bull ****.

The thread, as modified, is choppy and the ebb and flow has been lost. It would have been better to leave as it was. There was nothing with the way it was; it was messy, yes, but so is life, and you can't edit life, can you (except in authoritarian regimes).

I do not understand why the thread was closed. The conversation was reasonably civil and interesting. Counterpoints and responses in debate can be repetitive at times; but that is the nature of a debate. Discussions of any subject terminate when the participants no longer interact; so unless the Forum rules are violated why terminate a thread?

I agree with Katana. Although we don't often agree, there is nothing wrong with spirited debate. The world is not sweetness nor light so let's not pretend otherwise. Decisions should be made to encourage debate, and not made with financial decisions in mind :wink2:

We are al the better for this kind of debate.

Hi Guys,

I dont usually do this but since there is so much discussion about the thread being closed I will take a minute to try and explain why the thread was closed.

First and foremost, People complained, and complained most vigorously to all of the moderators, thus the need for action. What some see as Spirited debate others saw as antagonistic argument that brought zero to the discussion.

Why was the thread edited so heavily? Well there was a person at the center of the strife who was kicked from the thread and all further discussion so all reference to that person and their posts needed to be removed. Brad as you were a moderator at one time you know full well the difficulties of the job and how it is very difficult to edit threads that are closed without some chop happening. Since I agreed with the idea of it being unfair to First Legion to close the thread permanently I decided after some discussion with the other moderators to edit and reopen the thread. This editing and cutting of posts was done and thread was reopened. Sorry if you dont agree but as Brad pointed out life is messy and while this place isnt an authoritarian regime it has rules.

Thats about all there is to say on the subject.

Dave

Sometimes the best way to deal with vigorous complaints is inaction. Just sayin'
