Closing in on Binh Ba (1 Viewer)

Very nice display as per the norm, but I do have a question. ^&confuse

How do you get your figures to stand up in the tall grass mats?
Not just this setup but many more you have done.

Do you place them, hold your breath for the shot and then watch them go BOOM?

Steve mate,
Very nice. Binh Ba was an interesting Battle as it was probably the only Battle in all our time in NAM that we fought house to house in the township of Binh Ba. All our other major battles were fought in the Jungle. Long Tan, Coral, Balmoral, Bribie, etc.
A troop of four mighty Centurions, a troop of 13 M113 APCs and a Company of 5RAR Infantry. Over 100 NVA and VC confirmed killed with the loss of 1 Digger (Infantry) KIA and 10 WIA . Of the 10 wounded, 6 were Tank crewmen and 2 were M113 crewmen.
Battle Honours went to 1st Armoured Regiment, 3rd Cavalry Regiment and 5th Battalion Royal Australia Regiment.

Cheers Howard:salute::

Cheers Howard. Yeah quite an unusual occurrence from what I've read mate. I'd like for someone with more room then me for displays to have a better stab of portraying this Aussie battle. Perhaps Andy will do one at some stage with all Centurions and Apc's.

Yes Larry it's pretty much a balancing act. If I was doing permanent display then I would probably fix the figures in place somehow !

Steve

Heavy fire power. Imposing Steve. Robin.

Cheers Robin. Yep you'd not like to come up against a Centurion !

Steve mate,
Some photos of the towns buildings during the battle. Mud brick with tiled roofs. A French Provincial town occupied by the folks that worked in the rubber plantations. The photos may assist if you decide to do a small township scene with Centurion, M113 and troops.

Cheers Howard

Cheers Howard. Yes I was checking out what I had in the way of buildings I had similar to those in the photos yesterday, deciding that I didn't have enough chose to do the frontal scene of the Aussies instead. But will have an attempt of doing a similar looking village later.
This is quite an interesting video on the Battle.

Thanks Pat. The clumps of Bamboo are on three movable bases and gets used a lot in my Vietnam / Burma scenes. Though I think I will be doing something different with the Bamboo soon. Time for a change !
