Okay ive come into a few bumbs now that my collection has grown, the question being should i oppt out the dioramas and just collect figures or should i allternate a diorama^&confuse? what do you folks think?

That is tricky and really only one you can decide & determined by space and funds.

I have my figures displayed on shelves and the I set up mini dios that use to create battle of the war I collect. I am just waiting for a couple of tables then it will be a permanent display.

I like dios myself but only you can decide as only you know how much display space you have.

Depends on how you want your figures displayed. I think figures look better in a dio, thats what they're made for. My soldier purchases are decided by what dio I want to make. However, I have glass cases for the "must have" pieces that don't fit in with my dio plans.

Dioramas do not have to be huge to get the message over and, to look good so, why not build some to the size of your shelves etc and, have some in dio and some not. one full shelf with individual dio's would look great and then another shelf with just standing figures

I have a mixture of both.
I have figurines I bought with a dio in mind and then others, on shelves, ( behind glass) are waiting their turn to be incorporated in a dio ( The idea for a dio can come just by looking at a picture, then I inspect my reserve troops to pick the figurines I can use)

What makes you happy? What do you find pleasing to the eye? They are your figures, display them however it makes you happy! There isn't any "right or wrong" really. Some of us get into historical accuracy or whatever, but if you want to have your K&C Napoleonics in the same case with little plastic Martians - then that is what is OK for you. These things are expensive, get your value out of them by doing what you like.

well folks i think all just switch off and alternate displays and try to make some more space!

I really prefer doing both. Some figures (like bands and color parties, for example) look great on glass shelves in well lit cabinets, others look best on dioramas (action, camp life and advancing figures). Take a look at Jim Hillestad's "Toy Soldier Museum" website. His incredible set up inspired me - the way I display my collection is an homage to his (far superior) original.
