Gentlemen,

I am excited to join this forum and look forward to learning allot about K&C!

My father collected relatively extensively in the mid-late 90s, mainly K&C German tanks and Waffen SS sets, then he started traveling for work and sadly fizzled out of the hobby. He packed and stored all his sets in his basement, and recently discovered them. He has asked me to research and eventually sell his collection.

I was curious if you gentleman could please lend some advice and opinions on what the best source of action would be, I would love to keep the sets as I am an avid historian, but unfortunately, I do not have the room as my den is going to be converted to the baby room!

Thank you!

Hello Jager01,

To start to answer your question there are many ways to go to move the collection.

First there is THIS forum and the BUY/SELL threads. You just photograph and list the item and sit back and see what happens. It can take a while if you list (or a few) one at a time. There is also the hassle of all the (overhead) involved in this approach (listing, shipping, tracking, etc) but you will probably realize the most money, albeit a lot of work and time

Second you can CONSIGN the items for sale. See the section on the main page for more information or contact Julie here.

Third you can contact a dealer and see if they would purchase your entire collection in one fell swoop. Quick, easy but the dealer is making a business deal and you might not get as much money as you would selling one at a time. However, it is much easier and will save you months of work listing, wrapping, shipping, and then dealing with customers, etc. There are many dealers that would be interested.

See Julie here at Treefrog or George for example.

Fourth, you can try using eBay. As above a LOT of work and eBay and PayPal take some of the $$$ but you get a huge audience for your items.

How big is the collection?

Babies and toy soldiers do not mix!
Space will definitely be of the essence as your family grows :)

We offer a fairly easy Consignment Service here at Treefrog. And shipping from Ohio to Minnesota is not too expensive!
If you would like more information check here or drop me an email direct: julie@treefrogtreasures.com

Mate, you've come to the right place if you wish to off load a collection and you'll find the team at TF are a great bunch, plus there are loads of members on here too who are more than happy to assist on such things.

Sounds like you're going to be a new Dad soon too, which is exciting news and you have fun times ahead........

Given you're circumstances and your interest in the hobby, can I suggest you still consider dipping your toe into the collecting pond.

My reasoning is, you're world is about to be turned upside down with your new arrival and collecting TS is one of those hobbies you can pick up and drop at a moments notice and make it fit into your lifestyle as time permits.

You don't need to spend truck loads and you actually don't need tons of space to display your collection if you give it some thought.

Its my experience too most wives/partners are more supportive of such things if they know you'll be around home more to help with the kids.:wink2:

Good luck.:salute::

"Its my experience too most wives/partners are more supportive of such things"...…………

You'll need to point me in the direction of these supportive wives/partners, I've only heard rumors of their existence, much like the Loch Ness monster and bigfoot...……...:wink2:

Regarding this collection, specifically WWII Germans/SS from the mid to late 1990's; my assumption is the codes are roughly in the WS 01-25 or so range as those were offered during that time period.

If so, best of luck to you with the sale, whether it be direct through you or through some other method.
