Sometimes we forget how expansive our hobby is and the wonderful people we meet in this hobby. I have been fortunate to visit a number of collectors the past month and view their collections. The depth and breath of their collections are truly awe inspiring and have to be seen to be believed. So much to see in so little time. One could spend days just marveling at all the different displays with all the different makers, styles, sizes, periods, compositions and militaria. After quite a bit of drooling, I managed to put my jaw back in place and take some photos. The photos do not do justice to their collections, but I hope it captured a little something for everybody.
First collection is from a gentleman I knew as a customer for over two decades and unaware he collected. Sadly, he passed away recently. However, a fellow collector arranged a visit to his home and view his collection. Much of it had already been donated to a museum - I believe he had one of the best collection of flats which the family donated to the museum. He collected for over 50 years and his displays reflect a variety of interests. The figures range in size, composition and paint styles. There are metal as well as plastic kit vehicles and wood boats. Manufacturers ranged from Elastolin, Stadden, Mignot, Britains, Tradition, Frontline, Grenwwod & Ball, Trophy, King & Country, Somerset and other makers I could not identify. The displays range from the Roman era to the present day.
