Just received The Collectors Showcase ACW sets. Like a lot of us I bought these blind having not seen the masters at any of the shows and as there had been some discussion on this board on whether the 54mm were compatible with other manufacturers I thought the attached pics may interest other froggers. First 2 are of The Southern Artillery set and as you can see fit very nicely with Britains and Conte 54mm much to my relief I may add. And I have to say guys much superior to the Conte artillery- sets one of which you can see in the top right.

Second set are of two of the mounted Rebs in a skirmish with Britains and Conte "Iron Brigade" figures and I got to say these are the best ACW mounted figures I have ever seen and extremely heavy but perfectly balanced on a surprisingly small base area.

Third set of pics is the Reb Charge have placed 4 figures amongst a whole range of figures but once again very good compatibilty.

Last set is The Union Counter-charge placing the Collectors Showcase Iron Brigade amongst primarily Britains and Conte again NB Not my best pics but good enough to expel the 54mm "doubt"

Those scenes are amazing, especially the depth of field in the last one. I don't collect ACW but if I did the Collector's Showcase and Britains sets would be at the top of my list... I think those Collector's Showcase horses in your display are among the best I've ever seen. It looks like ACW is their premier line.

Great pics ! No really, Great pics!!! What did you think of the skin tone on the figures?

Which ones are you talking about Vamp??? The green ones that look like they are about to yak?:p What planet are those little green men from?:p Is the big guy a shreik caricature figure?
I also noticed the flesh color on those guys as being a bit off but the diorama looks great. Keep the the great work. Thats an awsome collection you have.

Hey guys, new to the forum but I've been reading it for a while now and I gotta ask which companies flesh color the green ones, the brown, the pink or the orange ones? And lets not forget about forces of valor. They are all over the map. I always had the veiw of if you like it buy it, if not don't. But don't spoil other peoples fun. ;)

Vamp not the best flesh tones I've seen and the pix and my dio spot-lights have emphasised the odd paleness, but the animation of these figures are really something else. This manufacturer will be worth watching.

Fishead: Many thanks for the puking green men comments- noted and appreciated, but lets think about it- living on a diet of wild-jack rabbits and black-eyed peas like that Reb army did for 4 years and Hell! even you might look green and feel the need to continuously yak up!

They are some very nice poses. Good one on the diet:eek:

I,m sorry if you took any offence to my comments, I was just trying to joke around a bit. You have to admit they do have a bit of a green hue to them.
Other then that they are great looking figures but I think they would look much better with an improved flesh color.

They mixed in well in your great diorama, and I,m sure there were a few soldiers that were really about that green in battle seeing thier friends blown to pieces on side of them and the fear they must have had knowing that they could be next.

Hey fish!
No offence taken....A Brit being offended by a Yank? Whatever gave you that idea....mind you we are used to our greatest ally kicking us up the arse every now and then, on reflection deserved a few times no doubt!!!!!
But seriously you did indeed raise a valid point (albeit jocular) when you look at the figures up close and personal the color is not exactly green more a pale khaki but being a dab hand with a paintbrush that can soon be resolved with a couple of coats of Vallego acrylic flesh tone on their face and hands.

Oh yeah! and the big fellah you mentioned with the caricature face guess I can always use him for my kid's forthcoming Halloween display.
Good on ya kid!
Bob.
