Competition Win (1 Viewer)

Thanks Mike,

No injuries just a bit of paint loss here and there. Some around two of the horses hooves. One man has most of the paint missing from his boots on the one side. Little paint loss on the rifles. As you can see the rifles are a little drunk :D Yes it is the FFL circa 1900 set#239

All in all a great little set, chuffed to have won anything at all really. There is a companion set to this one which I may just have to add.
Scott,
You have to admit that BG is crisp, clean and the quintessential glossy type.
That rifle on the one legionnaire is supposed to look that way- It's an 1899 mod #2 designed to shoot over fort walls. It also came with stamped instructions on the stock, like the later MAS models
"Position over head when disengaging from enemy" No French offence meant.

Yes they are very nice glossy figures and I think I will have them on display in my small ikea cabinet and perhaps in the future I will purchase set 239Acc to accompany it. :) For those that love glossies, I think a set of Beau Geste should be added to your cabinets.

Thanks for the Intel, I thought they were all standard 1898 issues. Who'd of thunk it :D

Figures received today at work. They are very nice although a little worse for wear :( I think they have been passed about a bit at the TSC office. Oh well can't look a gift horse I suppose. Pictures to follow tonight.

Beautiful set as always from Ana.

What was the wear you mentioned? It does not show up in your pix. They look mint.

BG rifles and bayonets can be carefully bent back into shape in most cases according to Shannon, since they are lead.

Hi Scott

They look great to me;)

Well done for winning them

Cheers

Martyn:)

There are a couple chips around the horses hooves and on a couple of the bases at the corners. Also one chap has paint missing from one side of his boots. I am a bit heavy handed so I may just leave the rifles as they are.

Hi Scott,
Do you ever get to the Chicago show? Beau Geste is always there and I'm sure they'd touch the paint up before your very eyes.
Congrats on the win!

I have never been to the Chicago show but I do hope to attend soon. Thanks for the tip, I will bear that in mind.

Hi Scott,

I have visited the Beau Geste room at the Chicago show and I have enjoyed having Ana touch up some Beau Geste figures for me. Ana does a great job. However, I must issue you a warning. Once you are in that room, surrounded by some of the most beautiful figures you have ever seen, you will find it most difficult to leave without carrying out a large load of new figures for your collection. Do not be concerned about how heavy your load might be as the weight of the figures you will be carrying will be counter-balanced by a lessening of the weight in your pocket book! :D

The Beau Geste room can be a dangerous place to visit when attending the Chicago show. I know this to be true from direct experience!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat ;)

Always a pleasure to read your posts Pat. That is the thing that scares me the most about going to a toy soldier show. How do you choose !!!!
