Further back as “JAZZEUM” states we did the old glossies..And in between those and the more recent figures was another series of fighting Unionists and Confederates, our very first “matt-painted” American Civil War series.
Andy
I managed to get hold of a couple of sets of Andy's first matt-painted Confederates a fair time ago and will admit that when compared with the later K&C ACW releases- the sculpts are, shall we say, a little clumsy. However, having said that the poses of the figures in these early sets I find to be excellent and quite unique. In particular two of the Rebs:- one passing a package of rifle musket ammo to his lying prone colleague who is reaching back to receive it. Shown in these early shots of mine of a small Reb/Yank fire-fight

I know of no other ACW manufacturer who has released such a delightful and thought provoking set as these two early K&C Reb sharpshooters. In fact I don't believe I have another single figure lying prone on the ground in a firing position as no-one else has ever released one. But Andy's poses for most of his ACW figures are just that bit special and always photograph beautifully. Another fine example is the first set of Lee and his generals. The body language of a petulant Longstreet is just brilliant; Jackson's admiration for Lee is plain to see in his figure. And Lee's pose expresses a slight disappointment with his protégé Stuart especially with his lateness at Gettysburg if you ignore Jackson's presence. Consequently, I find these are much more versatile figures to use in any number of dioramas for officer call or pre-battle meetings. I do get so fed up with endless senior officer figures with either a pistol or sabre in their hand or carrying those darn ubiquitous field glasses.

Now although I very much regret Andy's decision to not release anymore ACW figures-the man knows his business better than any of us do and after all it is a business- but darn it I'm still a hurtin' that there ain't going to be anymore K&C Rebs & Boys in Blue.
