Conte ww2 priory (1 Viewer)

As memory serves me, Matt was going to have a similar church made as that piece and the priory are always sought after and well they should be, they are IMO the two most stunning foam terrain features out there.

The problem is with the size of it and the complexity of the mold, it costs a fortune to have it sculpted, then master and production molds made, plus the number of pulls you will get out of the mold before it is fried and then you have to have it retooled.

The other issue is finding a company that will make these for you, it's a specialized craft and to my knowledge, only two or three companies in the US who produce products like this in foam, or more to the point, a reliable one.

A number of years ago, I approached a company and I wanted two projects; one would be an Eastern Front series of trenches with log pillboxes and such, the second was the sea wall at Tarawa. We went back and forth a number of times over price, production, etc, etc, the company at the time was going to charge me a set price to sculpt it and make the production and the master mold, THEN on top of that, I had rights to both projects for a year, then that company owns the rights to it and can sell it whomever they want.

My issue was; based on what they were charging me, could I sell enough of them as an exclusive for a year to cover the cost and make money as well...……………..at the end of the day, in my mind the answer was no, so I passed.

A number of years later, a company in California made a Tarawa Seawall for TSSD in foam.

Right idea for me, timing was off...……………………...

Now you could do a kickstarter.

The real problem with scenery and terrain such as the church and priory is as collectors age and downsize their homes, who's got the room to display something like this? You can maybe set it up on a table and mess around with it, but then it gets packed up and stored.

Recently for me the demand for playsets and such has fallen off a cliff; I bought 4 Barzso playsets four months ago; in years gone by, they would have flown out the door in the blink of an eye. Four months later, I'm still sitting on 3 of them, just today had someone offer me four more Barzso playsets; no thanks, let me sell these first and I'll see where things stand.

With shows getting cancelled left and right, aside from Ebay, where are you going to sell playsets?

The hobby is changing...………………….by the day.

For what this post started out as and what it turned into and also being a young collector I would like to say thank you ..all of you...reading these comments is part of reason i got into this hobby it really is inspiring so again I thank you all

If Hudson and Allen can knock out factory pieces someone can, if not them could create a church. Even a small version if needed since Churches come in all types of sizes. More issue is the price. Few will pay for a used church at $600 bucks. But a nice piece at a affordable price people will buy. Over the years there’s been plenty of interest in the pieces and side walls. What kills this hobby is the overly high prices that some companies charge that keep people from jumping into this wonderful hobby. Fortunately K&C has keep their prices within grasp of most collectors. When a company charges almost $70 bucks a figure and almost $500. a vehicle your alienating most collectors. Then it becomes a hobby for the rich. How is it that Eagle Design or War Park can produce beautiful affordable vehicles and figures? My main collection is K&C. If they were compatible with K&C I’d be all over them. I did grab one tank and one figure to see first hand the quality and detail and their spot on. Unfortunately for me their size is my downfall.

I recently grabbed the Hudson & Allen corner factory piece. Outstanding piece. Price was affordable. So I do believe a church could be produced.
