An interesting photo on the Conte site of a buxom young lass in a pith helmet taking exception with some African fellow.

It sure is an interesting photo:D:D:D:D

I'd say that African chap appears to be a Zulu as that would appear to be an assegai, what do you think?

I've a hunch he is and it appears to be an assegai and he's attired as one and another hunch that My Lord General's going to forget about the Zulu Chicks he's found a new love:D:D:D

Thanks Lt.
Love the plastic Durnford figure.....:)
Have added the web address to my "favourites". Will have a really good look at it over the next few days. Maybe reasses my opinion(s) on some of Conte's offerings.
Cheers

In my opinion and for what it's worth (not much lately)
No other manufacturer do action poses as good as Conte, they like others don't always get it right but Boy! when they do no one can touch them.

Amongst my 1000 plus blue and gray collection must be products from at least 20 or more different manufacturers and as good as they all are when your building an "action dio" you definitely need those Conte guys to add that "special battle/combat authenticity"

Others of course will disagree but my evidence lies in my dio's, without those Conte figures charging/fighting/dying and dead I'd be scuppered for active realism and the ability of turning toy soldiers into individual characters on a battlefield.

Thanks Lt & Reb.
I was always a wee bit put off by figures portraying wounded, dying or dead people, but I'm getting a lot more bloodthirsty - especially lately.
Cheers

Don't cut yourself short on your opinion and agree to date no one has touch them and you'll find that so throughout the Conte line and like you I'm sure there are others who will disagree with me also....The Lt.

But not me. :)
I agree 100%, much as though I like what other manufacturers are putting out, where it comes to pose quality, and in great numbers, Conte are top dogs IMO.

Conte makes great Civil War figures ! I have a huge number of them and almost all the sets that he has come out with. :D

The dead and dying Blue and Grey - really makes the dioramas pop - IMHO. I know some people think its over dramatic - but, for the dios they help really tell the story.

Lot of action and great figure designs in their releases - this is one range K&C has real competition in.

You're kidding right? K&C isn't even in the competition in Civil War figures.

I cant see K@Cs line of civil war staying around very long unless they produce some cannon and crews and some gun and limbers. The figures are well let say boring. Conte and the new Britians releases are much better animated dont know about the quality of paint unless they are infront of me. But it is hard to beat the hand to hand sets of Conte, now in his future releases I hope he stops producing ogres with cannons for guns(sons of the south)

Collectors Showcase and ONWTC make fine ACW figures also.
Mark

I don't think K and c's heart is in the ACW. I agree their offerings in that area are a bit unimaginative. Conte and Briatains re top do here. I would say Lee Indomiatbale and those Troiani sets as well as Rolling thunder are some of teh best done. I think old RC dropped the ball with that SOS series unfortunatley. They are just too big and I am grateful that that was pointed out to me.

I think collectors showcase ACW Artilery is superb, excellant life like figures.

Agree with Damian re K&C ACW figures:- but another problem with them is the size. At 60mm they are alone in the market due to every other ACW toy soldier manufacturer producing in 54mm (excluding of course Conte's SOS unique "fat size" figures, heaven knows what size they are supposed to be even though RC insists they are 54mm???? which as we all know are most definitely NOT!)

Also Andy has only produced Rebs and without any Yanks in 60mm for them to scrap with a dio builder is euchered in producing any realistic ACW scenes using just K&C figures which is a shame because a few of the new releases are particularly well posed. But they are just too big to place amongst:- Conte/Britains/CSC/ONTC/Frontline/Tradition/Troiani/Rocco/Imrie Risley/Andrea/Pegaso/Shenandoah/Ron Wall/Lancer/Alexander's....I could go on but I think you'll get my drift.

Reb.
