Guys-
I have been happily unpacking my order of First Legion's Continental Militia release. This series is the one I have been waiting for as a collector and I believe First Legion has hit a home run with thier efforts. Take the usual high quality of FL's paintwork, then add in a large variety of dress and arms, and you have the best AWI Militia figures out there!

I took a few quick pics this afternoon to show the quality of FL's work. Now, in all honesty, my wife actually took the pics because my attempts sucked. And she wanted me add that she actually posed them as well. So, any praise of these pics should go to her. Also, the base is one of Hudson & Allen's excellent pieces.

Here is a couple of group shots

As I said, excellent work by FL. They certainly have one huge AWI fan in their corner now! If anyone else has any pics of this new series, please feel free to add them.

They really are some fine figures and a beautiful box to boot.I'm sure you will enjoy them.

Great pictures, my compliments to your wife Noah. You are making them ever more tempting; even after I made some room for you with our interwar (and intercentury) transfers.;):D

Great display my friend :) Seems your wife has a very good eye for placement and is also very good with the camera . I know how much you have been looking forward to these guys and I very happy for ya . They look fantastic which is just what we have come to expect , I was just checking out the new shots of the Grenadier Company of the British 5th Regiment of Foot :eek: man they look nice . I can see fans of this period feeling the same way I felt when I bought my First Napoleonics from First legion . I had been waiting a long time for someone to produce figures at this level and at such depth ...not to mention the price (don't tell Matt ;) ) , there really is nothing like em . Enjoy ....All the best Gebhard

Noah,
it is great to see the first photos of the actually "delivered" minutemen.
Thanks for posting right away.
When I get my first pieces on monday I plan to join in this thread with some pictures next week.
I had very high expectations after seeing them on the FL website a while ago and I am very confident that I will not be dissapointed.
The Minutemen look simply great and so do the photos.
You are one lucky man to have your wife's support for the hobby.

Noah,

I echo Konrad's words about your wife's photographic skills. Excellentvlooking figures and well posed. The scenes make them very inviting indeed.

Congratulations on your acquisition.

Thanks for the kind words guys. A certain someone is rather proud of her work! Now if only my pics were in focus....

As I said though, these are just some quick shots to get more images out there. I wanted to get them posted in case anyone missed the pics from the London show. As with all of First Legion's releases, it is hard to describe the quality until you see them first hand. The subdued color and shading of these are simply outstanding! If anyone is on the fence with this series, my advice is to jump right in.

And Konrad, please add your pics as soon as you have them.

Noah, without a doubt.....The best AWI out there....Congratulations....Hoping to get my order in soon.....Excellent set up and photos by your wife....It's great that you can share your hobby with her....All the best and thanks for the photos Frank

Noah, Here's a suggestion. The stone walls around here look more like this....

Nice photos and set up. The grass is great. Those ARE beautiful figures FIRST LEGION.

Scott, I appreciate your input. Looks like the Build-a-Rama wall set may need to be switched out for something a little less even on top and with larger stones.

Superb stuff Noah, I will definitely be getting some of these figures down the line, glad to see that scale wise they look ok with the K&C Militia although I think the drabber colours of the FL ones are more realistic, perhaps I might have to use the K&C ones as tories?;)

They do look nice indeed. As to brightness, the reality is that dyes of that period were rather poor and far from uniform in even initial color. Moreover, they faded quickly in field use and offered even more color variation. Unless you are showing these units when the uniforms were first issued or in home training dress, drab is correct for even the Redcoats.

Very, very nice Noah. Congratulations on your acquisition and start of a great looking AWI collection.

Today I received my first thee figures and as I hoped, or actually expected :), I am very pleased with their style. Sculpting and painting are superb, but I don't think I have to elaborate on that subject, since it has been done a lot already, and the pictures on the FL website or here on the forum show it very well.
I have a few pictures to add. The first two are closeup views of front and back of the figures. The next three show the figures with JG Miniatures fence sections (custom painted by John Firth), which I will use as a backdrop for the final setup I have planned. There will be 7 or 9 minutemen, as they assemble on a countryroad somewhere around Boston and get ready to confront the British forces.
Now with the first three figures on hand I am really looking forward to create the first diorama of an AWI collection.
Like said on another thread before, I will/can not go for massed arrangements but rather for small groups, shown in dioramas/vignettes, to represent the various troops of the period.
Konrad
