Fish: The figures and conversions really look neat. Thanks for posting in progress pics. Do you pin the arms or heads when converting figures? I ordered the Italeri 1/32 French artillery and mounted French command set yesterday. Hope they also make a British Command like they did in 1/72 scale. Some say plastic goo works on converting arms and heads also. Someone told me to try straighting bendy rifles by heating then cooling parts and then coatong them with a 50% mix of water and Outdoor wood glue??? Leadmen

Thanks Dave!!! I use the 2-part putty to put the heads and arms, legs ect. back on. I like to to use a pointed hobby knife to dig a hole into the neck and arm sockets and into the head to give the putty somewhere to go and help hold better it kind of acts like a pin almost! I try to pack it in there to get a better hold and then just scrap off any thats left over that comes back out. The putty can also be filed off after it hardens. I don,t like to use glue becuase it won,t fill any gaps and if I do use glue I like the zap-a-gap brand.

For the primer I like to use the Mr Surfacer 1000 because its a primer filler and helps hide any gaps or imperfections and also seems to bond to the plastic pretty good. I like the bottles because its hard to spray inside the apartment. It comes in grey only in bottles but they have white also in the spray bottles which is the color that i would prefer. You should also wash all the figures and parts to be converted in some dish soap and hot water before you go to convert them because they have mold release from the factory that will keep the paint from sticking and to wash them after being converted risks them falling back apart during washing.

Yes the apron on the sapper is 2 part putty and I kind of just rush through it.I,m not that happy with the way it came out. I wanted to get more crease lines and the pockets didn,t come out that great because I was in a rush and just wanted to throw a bunch of figures out fast.
The arm with the axe is an austrain arm that was hollowed out and the hand and axe were cut from a marx viking that was tappered down to fit into the socket that I made in the arm. The other arm is from an accurate rev. war figure.

I like to use brass rod for my flag poles just make sure you use a really fine saw to cut it or it will leave a flared out imperfection on the end but you could always use some 2 part putty to make some kind flag top to cover that also and the flared out end might even help to hold it on.
There is a site that you can print flags from the napoleonic wars from I forget the name of it. I think they do other eras also, i,ve seen cival war flags also available on the web like this also. They are two sided and you just cut them out and glue them with some white glue right around pole.

Thanks leadmen! And thanks for the tip on how to staighten weapons. I knew about the hot cold thing but not the glue thing after your done. I also heard of a tip for painting swords and guns and bayonets ect. on plastic figures where you take supper glue and put it on them before you paint or prime them becuase it bonds better then the primer or paint to the plastic but you can only bend any part so far and the paint is going to fall off no matter what you do.:( I think the only solution would be some flex additive to the paint. I wish one of these hobby companies would come out with some flex paint and primer lines that were made for painting and bonding to plastics.

Fishhead: I tried the water and outdoor wood glue on a few test figures but have not painted them yet. For years I tried different solutions to the problem but never one that is perfect. White-glue and water, super glue etc. If they bend too much the paint flakes. Leadmen

Hey leadmen I,ve got good news for you about the british command set in 1/32 its already been released in europe and should hits the states in a few months I hope. They always get these sets way ahead of us! Its brits and prussains mixed. I hope they make some prussains in 1/32, I love the italeri sets but the prices are starting to get very high for plastic.

Thats good. Set is like their 1/72 set with Prussians and British. I do like the sculpture of the Italeri figures and fun to paint. Sure, I got boxes of primed ones. Just the paintbrush must be too heavy or I am getting lazy.:D I will paint some this winter. No enamels in basement is a new law here so I will use acrylics. In summer I paint enamels outside.
