I'm in a sharing mood today after our website SNAFU. Here are a few sculpture previews of figures to be released in the first half of 2023.....

We've been getting a lot of questions about our Vikings range and indeed we have several new figures coming including this Viking Jarl.

Additionally, we're just about finished with the next Retreat from Russia group of figures and this particular one i just love. Even when starving himself, the Chasseur shares what he has....

Look for these over the coming months.

Great sculptures! The detail on both is so crisp right down to the blanket texture and frozen toes of the Nap and the posture/face/feathers of the raven. I'm looking forward to seeing them all painted up. Thanks for the previews.

Love the Viking Jarl!

Hopefully this group will be a "Great Hall" scene. A Queen for the Jarl and some Vikings drinking mead and sitting at tables would make a great little "camp life" scene.

Nice! I'd like to grab the Chasseur as a stand alone piece when it comes out.

The details for 60mm figures is just unbelievable. The stitching in the leather articles for example ….

Absolutely superb sculpts, Matt!
I'll definitely be purchasing the Retreat From Russia figure as this is my favorite series. Look forward to seeing the rest of the new figures in this series.

I totally agree, the stitching on the brim of the Shako, texture of the blanket and the hair of the dog really are nice details.

I'm totally out of my element but I'd love to see a step by step making of a modern figure. Do you think they are sculptured by hand like the days of old or do you think created on a computer ?

The Viking figure looks like a something made with computer animation. I just don't know how it works but it sure would be cool to see.

It will be great to see pictures from the factory and the production line of figures getting painted etc.
Matt, is this possible, without of course disclosing any confidential information?

Hey my guy Johnny Gebs, always enjoy our interactions.

We haven't sculpted anything traditionally in a few years now. We ONLY use 3d modelling (i.e. computer sculpting). As you can see, the results are just insanely good and we get the benefit of using them in multiple scales if we desire to do so. The challenge is that very few high quality 3d sculptors have any interest in historical subject matter, they want to sculpt fantasy. So it's taken time, but the results are obvious.

Thanks for the reply I appreciate it. I can't imagine how it's done on a computer, and I'm always amazed by the new technology. I don't know who's doing the work for you guys, but they certainly are very good at it. I sure wish I could create something like that the amount of detail they are able to achieve is unbelievable. My mind just races at the possibilities.

Hey since you haven't done any Bavarian figures in will over ten years maybe it's time. Since they were the first figures you guys ever created it's time to give em some more love and since you spent some time there recently you have a real understanding of what those guys were fighting to preserve over the centuries. :wink2:

Can I suggest for the Napoleonic line the Royal Bavarian Chevau-legers or maybe something for the Franco Prussian war like the Königlich Bayerisches Infanterie-Leib-Regiment which would also look good in Feldgrau for the WWI line which needs some new blood. Hey ya gotta dream All the best Gebhard

Real quick - we do have plans to do Wrede as a mounted personality, but that's the only Bavarian we'll do for awhile. We had considered the Chevaulegere as well for quite some time now, but we've released quite a bit of NAP cavalry lately and our next mounted NAP release i think will be Austrian....

is this a democracy? If yes, I add my vote to Gebhard’s.

Any other personality figures? For example Prussian generals from the Franco Prussian War?

You have zero Napoleonic Prussian cavalry

Secondly another cuirassier regiment for French be fantastic, out stock for years and they had 14 regiments. C’mon!

Looking forward to the Wrede figure for sure, too bad about the Chevau-legers but I can certainly understand your comments about the heavy releases of Napoleonic Cavalry. I have to be honest and admit that the things I want to see and what will actually be popular sellers are probably not the same. With First Legion mounted figures now close to 200 bucks a pop collectors are going to be much more selective.

I don't recall any of the main manufactures ever releasing Austrian Cavalry, I personally don't have any and would love to see some especially Cuirassiers. There have been quite a few Hussar releases over the past few years with the Russian and French releases. For me personally and I understand why First Legion do them but repaints just don't move me like a totally new sculpt and release does. Really looking forward to what will be next.

I seem to recall someone had Austrian cavalry on here a long time ago.
