Well at least not in WWII. Does any one know if they used the Stuart tanks in support in this engagement?

In the southern sector, once the skies cleared and airforce support was available, the US Army advanced.....

The decision had been taken to squeeze out the bulge rather than amputate it as SHAEF calculated that this was the least risk to the allies and the endgame was already in sight. This lead to more hard fighting though as the germans defended the openings through which their forces needed to withdraw, or fought their way out from encirclement.

Kevin nice to see you back. The photos appearing in post 61 thru 65 are some of the finest I've ever seen done. More photos please.....Joe

Panda I didn't realize you were doing a big story line here. I should have paid more attention, sorry to stick my stuff in the middle of your project, great work. Firebat

Firebat - no problem at all - I'm not trying to hog anything at all, just following on from the line develeoped by the Lt - feel free please. Your photos are great.

Lt, thanks. It is a shame you can't see them at full size, I don't think they come across as well this size, about 13-17%. I have many hundreds more photos, don't want to bore you.

Kevin don't mind if you hog, this is great stuff. That was a little comic relief from these well shot photos. Do continue I'm sure you have a big following. Mike.

Kevin your photos are far from boaring and I continue looking forward to them as I'm sure others do.........PHOTO ON...........The Lt.

Kevin

I thought your re-creation of the Battle of the Bulge using your figures and dioramas was outstanding. I think you should consider publishing this in book format. There is a well known photographer named David Levinthal who publishes books on historcal subjects using toy figures. In 1989 the University of New Mexico Press published a book by him called Hitler Moves East: a graphic chronicle 1941-43, which reproduces this aspect of WWII using model soldiers and diorama settings. He shot them in black in white so that they look like war photos from the 40s. I immediately thought of this on seeing your posting. You have done such a fine job it really should reach a wider audience. Think of all the young people out there today who have little knowledge of WWII let alone the Battle of the Bulge.

P.S. I have enjoyed your photo postings on Treefrog. Keep up the good work.

Randy

Kevin, when you get a chance, tell us what brand of camera make and model. We still won't be able to shoot such incredible pis as you. Battle On. Mike.

Just a Canon SLR, 350D I think.

Meanwhile, the German troops gather for a local counter attack...Heinrich is busy driving his flakpanzer and positions it ready to advance

They absolutely did. If you need some specific examples/pictures, etc. please let me know and I will run a RECON. Mission in my library here at home.

Kevin it's been to quite on both sides from The Bulge lately. Seems that the weather brought things to a stand still. Hopefully the weather will break soon and we'll see both sides on the move again. Hope all's well at your end...TheLt.
