Crete 1941 (1 Viewer)

Yeah I agree and for an older model I still think the matilda holds up
well against the more recent releases, even with all the improvements
that have been made.

I,ve got to admit if I saw a tank coming towards me even if
was firing dirty socks i,d probably be running the other direction

:D

I think the Matilda is probably my faveourite of all my tanks. As you say it really stands up well in the quality dept. And i just love that camo scheme, its the same as the one at the IWM.Inspired i think by a Royal Navy camo experiment. Now James has got me thinking about a 8TH Army/FOB dio with the FJ's.I guess unless these FJ's get some hard hitting anti tank rounds my Matilda could still cause havoc with its machine gun if it gets in close enough!.(i need to get out more :D)

I know thier where also british commandos present as they
and the maori battalion covered part of the retreat.
I wonder if the uniforms from the D ,day commandos fit in
with crete ?

Maybe Andy will let us know if he reads this.I'm really glad the FOB figs will work, between them and the FJ's there are some excellant action poses.

I think the green beret worn by the K&C commandos was adopted later in the war than 1941. Not 100% certain on this but have an idea that the K&C are definately late war.

Although this is not a 'named' Crete series, who else thinks this could get a lot bigger.I wonder if Tony could come up with a dusty Cretian Airfield dio?. Also as a tribute to the wonderfully brave citizens of Crete who came out armed with pitchforks, knives and rocks and killed the Nazi invaders,i wonder if Andy might consider some sets of civilians going about their grizzly but heroic work?.

What a fantastic suggestion. Better than that, STUPENDOUS.
Please Andy do this and I’ll buy you a beer after I purchase the set. :)

American beer , give me the stronger Aussie stuff anyday, but I like that American Bourbon ;)

What no Whisky for the guy who suggested it!;)

Thanks, in all the old war movies i,ve watched it always shows commandos wearing those distinctive woolen hats as opposed to the berets ,still
its all good as it apears thier a few options in existing ranges.

Stick with the Scotch, and try Irish Whiskey (a good single malt irish Whiskey is even better).

:D Irish is good too Louis,it all hits the mark!

Although you can't admire the regime the FJ's fought for,at least they fought with honour and generally within the rules of combat.I have been reading how some murdering Italian soldiers wanted to excecute wounded and captured British paras in Tunisia in 1942,but they were stopped by Major Walter koch of 5F Regt.At least there was a spark of humanity there even if their allies were pond scum.
