We have just started the pre-order for a new set for our Crusades range, CRU043 Mamluk Warriors Scaling Ladder. It will be a very short "pre-order" as the set will be in stock at the end of this month at the same time as the Napoleonic Austrians, which are finally ready to go. For those of you who collect our Crusades range and are thus familiar with the box cover art, these figures (and walls) were inspired by that painting. The perfect complement to the set as presented is of course CRU009 Hospitaller Marshal Matthew Clermont who is on the damaged tower in the painting (though many other figures would work well there too of course!). The walls/towers will also be available soon as a modular set allowing you to create a diorama of the City of Acre. So stay tuned for more information about those as well. Finally, for those of you who have been waiting for the Mounted Crusaders, they are coming soon!

Matt, this is a great looking set! What a pleasant suprise to come across when checking the forum this afternoon. Can't wait to see what it will look like with more figures from this range on the upcoming modular walls. Sounds like a ready made dio, almost like you planned it that way!^&grin

Looks like it's time to dust off the old cc.Love small self contained vignettes.

This new set is really nice. Very exciting! Oh...MY...GOD! Now what am I going to do? For the past several years I've been developing a large diorama where Crusaders are laying siege to the outstanding JG Miniatures Arab walled city and now there is a whole new excellent offering of Mamluks laying siege to what looks like it will be an equally outstanding Crusader-held City of Acre. Do I make two dioramas, with two sets of walls and towers, one with Crusaders attacking and another with Arabs attacking? I ask you, what is a serious Medieval Crusades collector to do? Woe is me!

Me thinks a Mamluk catapult or trebuchet will be showing up in the near future. Something has to have knocked down that wall.

This range is starting to be very interesting
Time will tell

It appears that the potential for putting together a great siege diorama with this series will be tremendous. I'm impressed by the speed and extent of the continuous releases so far for this exciting new line.

Amazing stuff, congrats FL on another great piece of work (although I have seen a likewise ladder somewhere, Christian version...^&grin)!

That is a very nicely done looking set. Certainly a unique offering as well. Do you suppose the damaged wall will be an FL offering also? Wow, wouldn't that be something . . .
:) Mike

It says the walls/towers will be available in the announcment Mike.

I don't collect this range but looks like it's turning into a splendid range. Nicely done.

Mike, do I sense a renewed interest in you possibly getting back into collecting the Medieval Crusades, this time from First Legion? It appears that the walls and towers that FL will soon release are taken directly from a painting that depicts the walls and towers of the actual City of Acre. Those towers look pretty neat! From the painting, it looks as though they will be huge. I wonder if FL will also eventually release a city gate. This looks very tempting. The first FL mounted Crusdaders will also apparently be released very soon. This FL Crusades line is coming to us fast and furiously.

Nice thought George but not really . . . I'll stick with American History and enjoy my ACW and AWI collections . . .

Wow, what a great surprise-I take a few days off from the Board and return to find this ! I hope it's compatible with my JG miniatures castle pieces.

I'm just plain lucky as I'd been working towards the Mamluks laying seige to Crusaders dio via some JG pieces (can't wait to see the FL castle pieces-yikes).

I hope this is the first of a few 'seige sets' to allow for some mixing and matching of figures.

Yeah, I'm also anxious to see the new FL castle pieces. We know there will be the damaged tower section. Will there also be an in tact tower and damged and in tact wall sections? I also wonder if there will be a gate section. The painting that the castle walls and towers were taken from doesn't show any window slits in the towers. I would miss those window slits. They afford great opportunities for the castles' defenders to shoot through, etc.

If the FL castle sections had compatibility to the JG miniatures castle sections, I'd be a very happy man !

For all those interested, there are now a couple pics of the upcoming castle wall pieces on First Legion's site. Check out the workbench area. Also, the tower piece looks absolutely huge!

Nice catch Noah. Wow, they are excellent looking pieces-I'm going to ping Matt to see if they could 'work and play' with the current JG pieces as I've already invested in some of those-would love to add some FL pieces to it.
