Hello all:
This morning I'd like to share with you a review of Collector's Showcase (CS) CS00424 Erwin Rommel with Removable Base. My driver of the Steyr Command Car has been patiently awaiting the arrival of Erwin Rommel. Unfortunately, the $33 figure is sold separately.
First Impressions
Small box, single figure, some excitement but a well-known plan to place him in the back of the Steyr as pictured on the front of the 3" x 4" box. Honestly, I couldn't wait to get him out of the box to see the detailing. Turned-up nose and a bit Disney Haunted Mansion "ghoulish"; but hey, it's still a General Rommel figure.
Rating
Assembly/Components: 5/5 - I love the removable stand! A paper map is also included and can be placed in Rommel's left hand. Don't know if I'll fold it up.
Color Scheme: 5/5 - nice pleasing Afrikakorps colors as one would imagine. Nice hat and pants color.
Design/Mold: 4/5 - turned up nose, a bit ghoulish. Same face on another figure would most likely not be identified as Rommel. (-1)
Paint Quality: 4/5 - back of my figure has chipped/missing black paint on bottom of one boot as well as some light marks/chips on back of hat (-1). This was a new purchase. In comparison, the Steyr Command Car figures are better painted and seem more detailed than Rommel.
Decals: n/a - none
Details: 4/5 - I like the eagle on the hat, the goggles, and the binoculars. In addition, the Afrikakorps arm band looks pretty good. What I don't like is a combination of maybe the paint color and shadowing on his jacket as well as some roughness on the upper half/jacket which seems to give an unfinished appearance (-1).
Figures: n/a - being a figure set.
Playability: 4.5/5 - nice to have a stand but not much playability with a single figure. Can't expect too much but -.5.
Price: 4.5/5 - single figure at $33; some of the hard-core collectors might say this is a good price, but seems like a lot of $ for one 2 1/2 inch figure. (-.5).
Display/Eye Appeal: 5/5 - check out the pictures. I am tempted to knock off another -.5 for the face, but I already did above. He still looks awesome in the Steyr.
Overall Rating: 36/40 or 90%. Although an A on the traditional 90-100% grade scale, I would rate this closer to a B+ given all things considered.
Summary
Treefrog Treasures forum member Mitch said it best when comparing the CS Grenadier Assault Team to more recent releases by CS, "None of the rather bizarre ghoulish comments applied". While Rommel is a nice figure and makes a wonderful addition to the Steyr Command Car, in looking at him closely, he could be related to Disneyland Haunted Mansion's gravekeeper. You know, the guy with the lantern and dog. The overall quality is a bit on the sloppy side, especially in comparison to the two figures that come with the Steyr Command Car. It's probably not as much the mold as it is the paint and finer detailing.
However, the figure is still a nice addition to one's Afrikakorps collection and I would purchase again to complete the set. Overall rating A-/B+.

As always, comments welcome.
