CSA LEOPARD ship is for sale. Yikes! (1 Viewer)

Local pick up only. That cuts his chances down of selling it.

I'm pretty sure this comes from the late Lawrence Lo's collection. It's a superb model; I have the USS Eagle.

I bought one several years ago for half the price.
If you have money to burn why not!

Technically, it might Lawrence's Leopard. In early September I was offered and purchased a Leopard. When I made that purchase I already owned one. I recently sold one of them and I am not sure which I sold, the recently purchased one or the one that I had. I gave the purchaser his choice of boats. Both seemed to be in identical condition. My wife believes that one that belonged to Lawrence is the one that I have for sale - I am not 100% sure on that.

Mark...

he is offering alternatives to local pick up...

"If buyer desires, he/she can make arraignments for packing/shipping service at their own expense."

I think you purchased one of those from Hans but wasn't that in 2015?

If I ever had to sell my Eagle, I'd be very worried about shipping it. Pickup makes sense.

I didn't see that Mike. What did these sell for when they came out?
Mark

That's a question for Martyn but nowadays a good price is around 3K.

I do not collect Trophy so I have no idea if it represents value but you cannot fault the product. It looks spectacular.

Champsandbums is currently listing a large quantity of Trophy sets on eBay right now, so it seems obvious that he acquired someone's collection. He tends to overprice equipment sets, but the infantry seems to be "at market".

One could commission Herb Gundt to make a similar boat for substantially less.

Peter check the sticker on top of the paddle wheel, the Leopard in Lawrence's collection was number 9

The one that I am selling has that same label on it - So it is indeed Lawrence's Leopard that I have.

As Brad mentioned in a previous post, shipping this item could be a nerve racking endeavor. I have no comfort level in packing & shipping this model safely.

Although I have the Leopard up for sale, I have it displayed in my home and I would not be heartbroken if it were to never sell. It truly is a stunning! As I have an anchor ebay store, the listing cost is next to nothing - a couple of dollars per year. The interest that it generates is priceless.

Excellent Peter.

One was on sale at the London Show back in 2011, I believe it sold for £3000+

Confirming Martyn's pricing, the leopard appeared in catalogs at the time for 1200 to 1500 pounds which in those days was $2000 plus to $3000 plus in US dollars. I have one of these, it is spectacular, there are so few of them out there, it is a centerpiece to a "Rebel" collection! I love mine.

I look at items like this in the following manner - you are buying it b/c it is unique and you love it, the price doesn't matter then. A piece like this is not an investment, it is a collection focal point and meant to be enjoyed!

About three or four years ago at the Chicago Show a dealer whose name I've forgotten and who unfortunately has passed away was selling the Lion and was asking around $3,000, which I believe is market price for one of these ships.
