Based on my conversations with John, other collectors, dealers and my own intuition below is an assessment of JJ releases:

BOM basicall done with possibly some new Indian releases.

BOS done.............

Quebec another French regiment (marching or advancing) some charging British Grenadiers and British landing craft.

Raid on St. Francis Roger's Rangers in action, defending Indians and more Indian camp scenes.

War of 1812 more artillery and possibly some more American and British regiments. I hear this series is not so popular.

Battle of Culloden more Highlanders, Lowlanders, British Dragoons and a new British regiment (Wolfe) maybe some artillery.

Sudan Campaigns still at early stage and very popular. Dervishes, Camels and more British regiments.

Ticonderoga just released and should be very popular. Several French regiments, American regiments (Mass.) and scenic accessories.

Spanish Civil War only tanks and vehicles.

John is considering many new series among them the Penninsular Campaigns,
Saratoga and early 18th Century European battles (Marlborough). He is also considering some Medieval subjects like "War Of The Roses".
I think Ticonderoga will be the last of the FIW series but popular demand could sway John.

Disclaimer: These are my thoughts and interpretations and not John's official comments.
Any other information from collectors would be welcome.

Rich...that's a pretty concise and accurate guesstimate in my opinion from conversations with John...

BOM...with the finish of the Return to Monongahela is over...

BOS is kaput...I can't see any expansion here other than perhaps some Collector's Club figure...

Quebec may get some figures that are compatible...because of Montcalm's regiments at Carillion...but I think they will be issued with Ticonderoga labels...still suitable for both series...

St. Francis...I always understood to be a three part series...
1) the peaceful fort, civilians and whaleboats...
2) the peaceful Abenaki village...
3) the attack and chase of the Rangers....

1812...I'm not sure of the popularity of it...I do sometimes feel I'm the only one collecting it on the forum...I know the British side is more popular than the USCH side as they are versatile figures for the Nap Wars...though it may have quite a few additions in the future...officers, artillery (crews and guns), Indians...all if John has time...I think he will definitely see the artillery and artillery crews through...2011 maybe cavalry...

John once said to me...

"I have a “thing” for Chippewa. I think it may be because I spent some time working at Niagara on the lake. Certainly I have become really interested in all the artillery bits. It may be because that other manufacturers have commented that they will not make limbers etc."

"Seneca Indians. Are on my list. I’m not sure when. I have just started some new Indians, Stockbridge, Mohawk and Delaware, and am enjoying working on them!"

Culloden...I know more Highlanders are coming...he has mentioned Dragoons and artillery...maybe Lowlander infantry...as he is still researching weapons and non kilts for the lower classes...but again...he has so much on his plate only JJ knows what he will devote time to...

Sudan...well put...too early to guess...only John knows at this point...I know we will see an equal contingent of Dervish and FW's...as far as camels, boats, artillery etc...he has not discussed this with me much...

Carillion is a hit...hugely anticipated and very welcomed by long time FIW and JJD collectors...he can be so versatile with this...especially with the French regiments and versatile pieces to Quebec...

I can't even begin to give my impressions on his planes and tanks...

Rich...I agree with almost everything you say...

Looks like we have the same G2 and appreciation of JJ.
I think the Ticonderoga/Carillion series is very unique with scenic bases and defence works. I look forward to sharing diorama photos with you.

Its quite strange that in the market K&C is catching up with someone else's ranges rather than everyone doing or, being accused of following them. I will have both JJD aircraft before K&C release theirs so, it will be nice to see what follows. The JJD ones look very good and cannot wait to get them over here.

I always thought that there was a chance of another regular officer release in BoM. I was thinking that this would allow the line to be properly closed and allow collectors to get that last missing element. Of course, Orme works in a pinch with the recent releases, so .....

I always thought that if John released Semioles Indians, the existing American releases for BoC would sell like hotcakes. After seeing a Semiole release notice from John, the first thing I would do would be to order BoC "stuffs". Whenever a Seminole Indian Release is announced, those having JJD Chippawa will be a very happy group.

Still stuck in the FIW with some Culloden , which is probably a mistake ......

I can't comment on the other areas but in SCW that's not correct. More I can't really say.

WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope war of the roses was not just a tease.....big fan of the French and Indians wars ......but would go for some older wars .....:D:D

Hi

I like the comments from NYsoldier - very sound. Would love to see a "Marlborough" series.
But a question to one and all - I have spent some time looking at the smaller scale figures e.g. 44 mm, 30 mm, and 25 mm. and I'm surprised how popular the English Civil War is. On several threads this has been put to JJ who's general reply is "It's not popular" do you agree or would there be a market for this period. ?????? :)

Personally I would like to see the ECW in matt finish. There are very few "pike and musket" ranges out there. ECW, The Thirty Years War or Landsknecht battles would be colorful and varied in scope.
Massed pike formations with musketeers, early artillery and armored cavalry would make exciting dioramas.
Not sure how popular these would be but maybe John could try a limited series to test it out.

Hi
I think you have hit the nail on the head. I like the idea of pike men to give depth to a scene - The numerous flags would give colour and movement -
I think I need to enlist John's right hand man - MIKE- (that is if he is not producing excellent photos for us to drull over) If anyone could change John's mind he can - Also At least it will be a British side that wins - unlike his latest
addition of yet another British defeat.

You know...John is very engaging and seems willing to exchange emails with collectors having questions...he is open to sharing some of his ideas and future plans with those who ask questions...that's one of the things that I like about JJD...John is easy to find and will converse...

The only JJD range that I collect (so far) is the Sudan, I remember it was mentioned somewhere that Royal Marines is more than a possibility along with camels and of course Dervishes. I think that if this is a popular range then John will be adding to it for sometime to come, I certainly hope so.

Thanks nysoldier for the status update. I’ve been away for a while and have lost touch with what’s going on in the land of John Jenkins. I think the Ticonderoga series was a good move on John’s part. I think it will bring back some of the original collectors including myself. I consider myself a full time wargamer and only a part time JJ collector and when the original BOM series starting coming to an end I lost interest in collecting. But Ticonderoga has sparked my interest again and now I’m planning on going back and getting many of the newer BOS and BOM sets that I missed.

Here are a few thoughts that I had.

I would like to see POA continue but I feel it’s missing a center piece like a unit charging or a mounted commander. The French artillery piece is my favorite to date. I also hope to see some command figures for the French marine firing line.

I would expect The War of 1812 series to pick up as we start to celebrate the 200th anniversary. I have some of Scotts Brigade and I would consider getting the rest if the F&I stuff slows down again.

The Battle Saratoga or an AWI series would be an acceptable replacement for the F&I series.

Thanks again

I think John said he is going to make some charging British Grenadiers for POA, your other suggestions are compelling as well.
For AWI/Saratoga John is interested but feels that the uniforms and equipment are very close to the FIW so not much contrast or excitement.

I would like to see him try a Medieval or Pike and Musket Range for something different.

No, what he needs to do for Saratoga is Benedict Arnolds assault on the Breymann redoubt. That would include Hessians. I don’t think he has done anything like that before.

Some interesting ideas for the future.

Regarding ECW I think Roundheads and Cavaliers would be an interesting series but I have serious doubts about the commercial viability of the subject (here I should point out I am from UK originally and am a dealer of JJ). UK has a long history of participation in many wars against many interesting enemies but in the scheme of things I think ECW is way down the ladder in terms of interest. Such a series would be heavily dependent on support from the UK customer base as I doubt there would be much support elsewhere.

Regards
Brett

Hi,
Also think that AWI Hessians would be a welcome addition. Perhaps, John could test the waters for Hessians and ECW figures by offerring them initially through the collector's club.

Three new ranges I would like to see John start are the French Foreign Legion in either North Africa or Indochina, the Indian Mutiny, and the exploits of Chinese Gordon in China.
