As we are always up for trying some new - we had several DD104(SL) sets repainted to work with the IDF series!

We are not charging anything extra for these sets, they will be offered at the original retail. And as an added bonus, a post card from King & Country featuring the original DD104(SL) in a scene!

Not just Zach, but a few more of you, need this in their IDF diorama! ^&grin

Were these actually used by the IDF? I've looked around the web briefly and can't find any indication that they were. From what I've found, they were used up to 1955. Of course, that could be confined to the US military. I don't really know the answer and am curious if anyone does.

Great idea Julie....
Would like to see this done more often for those of us who don't have the talent or time to customize some of our vehicles.
Certainly the M113 APC and Centurion could be customized to IDF colors as well.

K&C just came out with a Pacific Sherman. Good looking model. It would look at home on Okinawa. And there were dozens of M26 TRV on Okinawa. Repaint the M26 like the Pacific Sherman.

Pardon the interruption, but the thread is about the IDF, not the War in the Pacific.

Brad to answer your question, I don't know either, but at the end of the day, it is a wrecker and wonderfully painted, so I would say what the heck on this one, its a glorified tow truck and I be willing to take a bet at least a few were still running during the IDF time, so I say why not. I think if it ends up being artistic license, who cares, it is not like you are putting a King Tiger in the AK theater...…………………………………...although, according to my Indiana Jones history, one of those did exist and resides in Maryland at this time...…………

End of day, my opinion, is that we are building dioramas to please ourselves, I don't know about you, but I am not charging admission and entertaining world renown armor experts in my home daily, so my goal has always been to have fun with it and find what is pleasing to the eyes.

My 2 cents

From further research it doesn’t appear that it was used in the Arab Israeli War but even if one or two had been, as unlikely as that may be, the camo would not have been winter white but sand, as with the models made in the IDF range.

I think it is a bad photo, I went to the item page and it appears washed out but from other angles I see more sand color, I don't know though as a disclaimer, I have not seen one in person.

Anyhow, I am hoping it would be more sand in color than winter white to your point as that is well taken.

just giving you a hard time on the post, but yes you are correct, another good scheme for repainting!

the picture is deceiving....harsh lighting on my part-the color is actually Sand Grey, a light tannish/grey color the IDF painted their vehicles at that time. I got it from an excellent book, "Painting and weathering IDF Armor" written by an ex-IDF armor officer and published by MIG printing. I painted the 4 M-26's for Treefrog.
