Hi guys,
my thoughts -
Figarti has really pleasantly surprised me, their last few offerings have been nothing short of marvelous. Figarti's vehicles, in my humble opinion, to date, are the most realistically gritty and weathered in my opinion. There is a visible improvement in the figures' sculpture as well.
Since Figarti releases its 1/30 items, i have gone from peering admiring glances to a convert in gleeful anticipation at their future releases.
this is a major leap for me, as my funds are limited, and most of my items are K&C. the currency conversion and the ever depreciating US dollar makes it worse.
so, every item that i intend to buy, i will check and think about carefully before committing.
i bought the V1 and V2 series lot, and only minor but niggling issues with the winter panzer IV stopped me from purchasing it too. and after some consultation with some great folks here (thanks guys), i'm getting the Chevrolet too!
1) V2 command vehicle -
excellent translation of the V2 vehicle. Great originality and figure poses.
minor issues -
a) the back compartment of the vehicle seems small for 2 persons.
b) guy's head out of the top hatch seems a bit weird to me.
i will remove the head to fix this.
c) the driver seems (from pictures) small compared to the other figure.
my deduction - my definite purchase.
2) DAK panzer
excellent weathering. and accurate model for the Africa conflict. absolutely love the red bike (with moving wheels!)
minor issues -
a) track a bit close to the track guard (hopefully adjustable)
b) figures - i felt they are all a size oversized, and pudgy looking. Doesn't look like the young, fit and elite Panzertruppen.
my deduction - while i absolutely liked the DAK panzer, i hope Figarti will release a crew set (like the V2 inspection sets A & B).
And while the dark figure paint tones does not bother me, i hope in future Figarti's vehicle crew will be sculpted without parts of the vehicle attached to them.
cases in point -
winter panzer - MG42 attached to tank commander's hands.
Chevrolet - steering wheel attached to SAS driver's hands.
This makes it hard to make the superior Figarti vehicles to 'go'
(self mocking) with the superior K&C figures.
whilst i hope this, i do not wish for Figarti to follow HB's lead and repaint their crew a more vibrant colour. I sort of like their dark and gritty tone.
I will patiently wait for the V2 vehicle and hopes for the winter panzer to be tweaked, minor glitches fixed, and re released under different camo and crew.
It is my belief, with the visible improvements shown in newer releases, by the time Figarti decides to make the 1/30 big boys - Tigers, King Tigers and etc.., we'll all be in some treat.
yours sincerely,
nasir kasmani.
