Collectors of our "DAK" figure range have long asked when we would provide some opposition to their German forces. We are pleased to release the start of them with these wonderful British 8th Army Infantry. Six different figure in combat poses that we hope will prove to be worth the wait!

These look nice. I wonder what kind of vehicles will be released.

I really enjoy various FL ranges, but I find the overwhelming majority of their WWII figures, although painted wonderfully, to be stiff and lifeless due to the lack of expression on the faces.

Must confess I'm disappointed with these figures. The Sten was a very rare beast in the Western Desert, the Thompson SMG being much more the standard issue. The Bren gunner is wrong. The correct firing position was for the left hand to be placed over the top of the butt rather than the peculiar position of the FL figure. Not as good as the AK figures.

Agreed and at $67 USD a pop, now that's going to hurt the hip pocket!

Tom

I'm glad that FL is finally getting around to these figures........But I must admit and agree $67 each is getting VERY difficult on the wallet.

Interesting. Just did a quick google search of British 8th Army pictures and here are my very un-scientific findings:

1. The vast majority of pictures only show rifles and Bren guns
2. There are a few pictures of Stens, but more are from the Italian campaign than the Western Desert
3. Thompson SMG pictures out number Sten pictures 3 to 1
4. The vast majority of playsets and plastic toy soldier packaging show Thompsons

Definitely think the next release should have Thompsons rather than Stens.

They look more italian campaign to me. My father was refugee in the Cassino area (more near San Pietro In Fine, place where Huston filmed a beautiful documentary) and he always described me the first brit officer he saw, advancing calmly with webley in hand. I always imagined him just like the FL officer...:)

8th Army in the main wore shorts in the desert, although some units preferred long trousers. Shorts were worn in Sicily but in Italy most troops tended to wear long trousers
