Sometimes the stars just align…

A while ago, Larry Allen suggested in one of our threads the idea of making damaged palm trees as seen on WWII footage of the fighting on the Pacific Isles, along with loose palm fronds.

We had been thinking about the best way of doing this, whether to make these as single resin casts or as bases with multiple trunks.

Today we just started to experiment, and… every step of the trial just felt and looked right to us.

As a result, we are able to share these first product images with you (straight from the battle-worn painting desk), as well as some of the actual footage Larry shared with us.

These battered trees will be available as Bare (15cm/6”tall trunk bereft of fronds), Damaged (trunk broken at angle, approx. 6cm/2.5” high) and Broken (approx.. 6cm/2.5” trunk, with separate part of palm tree on the base).

You will be able to chose between the Jungle/Desert base version, as well as the 3 types of fronds already available in our Palm Tree product range (Standard/Broadleaf/Sugar Palm types). They all come with a bag of loose fronds for you to scatter throughout your diorama as the beach/jungle floor would be full of these after an artillery barrage.

Let us know what you think of these and how they would improve you collection and dioramas!

The images below all show the Standard Palm variant.

These items will be available very soon, so get you pre-orders in now!

WOW ... Great news, Sven. I am sure these will add tremendously to the realism of the Jungle scenes.
Can't wait to add them to my displays.

Can't believe I missed this thread as I've been trying to work out how to make damaged palms for sometime now.

Soooo pleased someone is going to produce a few, plus the separate fronds are so cool and invaluable for the Pacific and Desert theme's. :salute::

Can't wait for their general release, hopefully very soon? ^&grin

We will be able to offer a first run of these very soon and arrangements for a following run of trees have already been made.
The trees are one of the very few items we don't produce ourselves. As a result we don't have 100% control about how quickly we can get stock in, do our work on the items to finish them and ship them to our dealers.
We highly recommend you place your pre-orders now already, as we have been getting quite some positive feedback on the damaged versions, as well as the (undamaged) large palms!

I agree with you there, chomping-at-the-bit to get these items. I tried to make a few damaged Palm Trees myself with mixed results. These will add so much to a beach landing type of scene. I also agree that the separate Fronds will add a great deal of flexibility to the dios. I am hoping that Last Post might sell the fronds separately at some point as I can use them to cover homemade bunkers and such.
