If you rubbed out those background hills, you'd be right at home sitting on the apron at an airfield in ol' Blighty!! And he's going to build 10!!! COOL!!!!!!

If anyone is interested in some really cool and VERY realistic footage of WW1 air combat that Peter Jackson has also shot for the Australian War Museum in Canberra, you should go to that website and try to catch a glimpse of it. Supremely well shot and puts you right up there in the sky with the pilots over the front - a squadron of SE5a's vs. a flying circus of Albatross, Fokker DR1s, and Fokker DVIIs beating up on a seemingly helpless Fe2b - no holds barred either so not for the squeamish...

With Peter Jackson and Sir David at the helm I'm sure it's goning to be a great film. I'm glad to hear that the dog name problem is close to resolution, this has created spirited debate in my local and many a Sunday lunch ruined with convivial debate!!!

I've heard that Peter Jackson is a keen wargamer, the Great War being his favourite. The Parry brothers have sculptered figures for him as well as working on the LOR films.

I'd like to find the aerial footage is it available on the web?

Fantastic news, thanks for the update mate. I really enjoyed the original but here is a chance that the remake will actually be better.

There may have been a reference to the dogs name which is inflammatory

Ah well that would be PC at its finest. Let's all ignore history so we are doomed to repeat it. That WAS the name of the dog; deal with it. I guess if Spike Lee had said it it would be OK.

Hi Gents.

The issue of the dogs name has nothing to do with the story of this Squadron and the attack they conducted so drop it. The "If Spike Lee said it" arguement makes it ok is total crap and you all know it, this forum is not run by Spike Lee its run by Shannon so deal with it.

I have no idea what any of that is supposed to mean Dave nor do I think the "crap" comment contributes much to the discourse. The Squadron's story is what it is, not what someone would prefer that is was. At least that is my understanding of history. I am find to drop it without the unnecessary derogatory references to another party's opinion.

Your opinion is what it is and you are entitled to it but to call the editing of a word that is considered hateful and racist now PC is what I dont understand. Perhaps you can explain it.
