My understanding is that the original 4+ hour movie was a mini series in germany.
If its the same,I own a copy and find it be one of the most realistic movie about the second would war.

That's correct, it was originally aired as a mini series in Europe, subtitled only, and later on clumped together as the full length movie and also a much cut shorter movie. Excellent series.

Is this the U-Boat series you're referring to Wayne?

If so it's not the same as the original classic movie from 1981.

Regardless, the series looks fantastic.

The 1981 Movie of the same new is brilliant IMO, even after all this time.

I started watching it last night on SBS On-Demand …..

really good, so got lots more episodes to watch in the coming weeks , when TV is full of old Xmas Movies
