One of my most appreciated themes by K&C has to be the Kriegsmarine (KM) collection released in 2010.
The Kriegsmarine theme included just 13 figures (KM01-09 and KM012-15), a BMW 327 (KM016), an Sd. Kfz. 9 Famo Recovery Vehicle (KM017), and the flagship of the collection, a Type 127 Seehund U-Boot (KM010SL). An interesting point of interest is the skipped number KM011. Was this number reserved for a larger U-Boot, perhaps even Gunther Prien's missing U-47? We may never know, but we do know that the Kriegsmarine collection was short-lived, and a wonderful collection of pieces by K&C.

Perhaps even one day, we may see the theme revisited.

Gunther Prien, Captain of the lost U-47, pictured in TCS's U-96. The U-47 was a Type VIIB U-Boot; the U-96 a Type VIIC.

What are your thoughts of the Kriegsmarine theme?

An U-boot, impressive!!! For sure the KC krigsmarine toysodiers are such wonderful figures.....They just needed the TCS u-boot!!!

Nice collection of Kriegsmarine Rob. Not a range I collect myself but I can appreciate your photos all the same !

Thanks Steve, appreciate you weighing in.

Thanks Poppo; how about filling in that missing number with a K&C U-Boot (or section of one)?

The Seehund was my first set of the line and in anticipation of receiving, I even had my Afrikakorps waiting by a wooden dock.{sm4}

The Seehund arrived and I added a few Kriegsmarines:

Over the next few years, it became this:

But not without a K&C piece to make it more interesting:

I’ve got a few of the K&C Kriegmarine figures as well as the Seehund and SdkFz. 7 tow vehicle. The TCS U-Boot section has been really tempting, but I’ve held off thus far... Personally I was a bit underwhelmed with the Seehund, but do think the K&C figures go just as well with the Eagle Designs U-Boot Bieber model.

I believe Thomas Gunn also made a a smaller sub that I remember seeing.
Don't regret buying TCS's U-96 though. I think it's an awesome piece.

But this is what started my interest in the Kriegsmarine theme:

I had the K & C Seehund and Famo Recovery Halftrack and some KM Figures but ended up selling them due to space issues, and they really didn't fit in with my other sets. And I very nearly purchased the CS Uboot, but again, lack of space and it was rather expensive for what it was, however it sure does make an impressive display. Same thing with the Figarti Vessels and their Rocket and German WW2 Train Collection, you need a lot of space to display them properly.

And thank you for posting a scene with the whole u-boat!{sm3}{sm3}{sm3}

You bet Poppo. I've added a few more just to see it better but did not want to detract from the K&C submarine base.

I don't have any KM myself but you did a nice job on your KM scenes !
Thanks much Wayne.

Completely understand. I've maxed my space and still buying; ended up displaying my U-96 on a coffee table in the living room. Would never want pets for this and other displays.

A few additional shots for Poppo:

Your collection looks so nice Rob.

You display it all very well too. I take it that the water in the U-96 coffee table display is custom made to fit the sub? Where or how did you get the water base for that?

Well done!!!

Mark

I think the water is part of the 3 bases that make up the piece.Look at the overhead view.

Thanks much, Mark. I've considered an acrylic cover for the base as many of the pieces were hard to find long after they were retired. In fact, even had it all measured and priced, but ended up not having custom made due to the cost. I have the base located on top of a curio stand and interestingly, the sub with water sections fits pretty well as pictured with the commando attack. I currently have them in two different rooms. The U-96 is on a coffee table by itself.

Marco is correct in regard to the water. The sections are made by TCS for the sub. There's three pieces on each side of the ship. The wooden frame just sort of keeps everything together.

Yes, exactly.
