Hi all,

got myself DD024...

some parts were broken off and there were paint chips.

Even the machine gun of the commander was bend and paint was broken off.

After a lot of time and patience, somebody repaired the lot and someone else repainted it. Finally it is ready and I'm a happy DD024 owner.

So now my question is who has nice pictures of dioramas done with this tank and his commander .

All suggestions for possible dioramas are also welcome.

Great set,
I have 2 of them, 1 full set with Bogie and 1 extra tank. I am thinking of having the extra Tank made into a Desert Grant. Does anybody know if that is accurate? My history on this tank is lacking.

It's very accurate. I have a photo, which I can post, of Monty's Grant. This tank was a big assist to Eigth Army in trying to deal with the Germans and the Allies as their prior tanks (Crusaders and Matildas) were inadequate in dealing with the Panzers. The trouble was, because of the gun configuration, they would have to get hull down so as not to be exposed to 88s and such.

Brad,
that would be perfect, I have the monty figure, so I could make my own set very easily. Very cool, now I just have to find a commission! Still a ways off.

The turret is different and it usually had side skirts but it does look very similar.

DD24 is an M3 "Lee". The "Grant was the same vehicle but with a "custom" turret for the British (they wanted the radio up in the turret, where the Lee had the radio in the hull). The British DID use the M3 "Lee" in addition to the "Grant".

A new turret could come from an Airfix 1/32nd Grant or a Monogram 1/32nd Grant. There is a size difference to 1/30th but the 1/32nd turrets could serve as a pattern. The sand skirts could be made from styrene or brass. So the project is do-able.

Here it is repainted.

Spectacular! The original finish is kind of quirky but this looks absolutely stunning.

It's always a pleasure to see your work Alex or should I say your additional play time....The Lt.

I think I might go for a full sand version modeled after Monty's command vehicle.

I guess I am creating my own Strictly Limited Edition!

Andy if you decide to make this, my painter of choice and I would like a percentage :p:eek::eek:

Just kidding! Now off to find a half bodied Monty.

And for all of you crying that I am destroying a rare piece of K&C, pls understand that I bought this tank from good friend and board member Gideon on ebay for a cheap price b/c no original figs were included. Thanks again Gideon!!!

Thanks for all the info.

Did someone actually make a diorama with this tank?

JP

Alex made this tank for my friend Harvey Hammer and he doesn't have it in a diorama per se but in a display case with his Eighth Army display.

What did you guys do with Bogaert?
Where can he be placed?

He can go anywhere mate - the guy is so cool he freezes ice! I like what Alex did with the vehicle to be honest and its only paint so if you want to put it back to the original colours it should not be too difficult.
