Defending Australia (1 Viewer)

Steve mate,

Thanks for that video clip. I have read the story but not seen that clip. Hence the reason I only collect certain K&C Japanese.

Cheers Howard

I concur with Howard and have nothing nice to say about the Japs of the 1930s and 40s.

This is an excellent audio doco of Japanese Brutality during WW2 with some explanation of why they behaved the way they did.

The Japs in those days were hard core. Two of my late wifes uncles were captured by the Japanese during WW2, one of them was in the occupying force in Japan after the war. He was pretty quiet about his experiences but did mention the large number of human skeletons in the river where he was, tough times for everyone I guess.

My Mum was not keen on the Japanese until the day she passed, scared the daylights out of her as young girl during the war, took Dad away from her for years, and killed her uncle on the Burma railway! I saw her on more than one occasion, in later years, cross the street to avoid anyone she perceived as Japanese. The war left some bitter memories for her.

Steve, in Peter Fitzsimons bestseller 'Kokoda' there is mention of 'Diggers' finding some of their fallen comrades with flesh missing from their thighs & calves as they pursed the Japs towards the sea during the final stages of the campaign.

Its an excellent read and gives context on just how close the Japs came to Australian shores.

Just adding to Steve's great thread part 1 of Mark Feltons 'Defending Australia'.
