"Col. Noguchi and his aide Lt. Shigeta survey the defensive options on a Japanese held island in the South Pacific during WWII." (IMHO I feel that the Japanese officer set from Figarti is one of their better sculpts)

Randy,
I know that I ought to put this on the Pacific thread, but this photo just goes to prove that WWII in Asia does have appeal. I live in hope for early Pacific War or pre-1941 figures to be offered featuring the kind of fine sculpting seen on K&C's Marines and Japanese figures, but not all action figures please. Sometimes a good story is told with off-duty, or relaxed poses such as we see here.

Best Regards

Harry:

You will see we are of like mind-this is what I posted on the Pacific thread:

"The latest series of Japanese for K&C

1.I agree the sculpts and painting are outstanding.

2. Gen Kuribayashi is outstanding.

3. The new action figures are all too similar in appearance and in what they are doing.

4. I would love to have some non-combatant figures to go with the General, such as other officers, staff, soldiers doing chores and preparations on the island like in "Letters from Iwo Jima". Perhaps a variety of single figures such as Andy does with FOB, WWI and most recently the new items for AK.

So the bottom line for me personally was that there just wasn't enough variety in uniforms or activities in the last release. So Andy or Richard at WB don't give up on those of us who love the Pacific. Try a few new single figures as I describe above."

Hi Randy and All,

I don't think our early Japanese figures truely reflect where Figarti is at today with its sculpting or painting. Appreciate interest in the Pacific. Here is a question for everyone so I can get some consensus on. Should Figarti's FUTURE Pacific release be in FM32 or FM30 (1/32 scale or 1/30 scale)?

Difficult question as a lot of collectors on this forum would be collecting FM30 scale, Other than K&C there really only is Figarti and some Collector
showcase/Patriot models in FM30 scale.
K&C are devoted to many lines but they only cover certain theaters up to a point.(i.e Eastern Front,Vietnam, Pacific,Gulf etc). The west european theatre and desert is well covered in the FM30 scale.

I myself have been looking at FM32 scale as there are more manufacturers, and hence more scope to extend a collection for certain theatres if FM30 scale manufacturers are not in a position to extend exisiting lines.
Haven't made up my mind yet to switch to collecting FM32 scale but am leaning towards it to extend those theatres. However would keep my west european/desert in FM30 scale.:)

So I figure K&C have the WWII desert and western europe theatre scaled to 30 but the rest of the theatres are a toss up between 30/32. The 32 manufacturers have the larger ranges at present in some of those other theatres and are starting to look more appealing for range.

just my opinion , other people will be collecting by manufacturer, by price or one scale only :)

I love this set of officers. No one else has created anything quite like it. By better sculpts I mean that in the context of your early releases.
I like the fact that you gave the 4 of them a variety of uniforms, reflecting the variety of dress of the Japanese army.

Rick, I believe The Pacific will generate much more interest than Flags of our Fathers and provide an ideal opportunity for new figures and vehicles based on the Pacific theatre.

I suspect main stream companies such as Forces of Valor etc are likely to bring out plenty of 1/32 Pacific stuff to ride the TV series hype so FM30 may be best for Figarti here.

If you decide to produce a Pacific range in 1/30 please don't forget to do some British and Australian sets :)

Just my opinion of course, but I would like to see possible future "Pacific" releases in 1/32. Oz makes a good point that FoV and other 1/32 manufacturers will probably jump on the bandwagon. RH also has a good point in that there is more choice of manufacturers at 1/32.
And finally, I like Randy's point that there was a lot of variety in Japanese uniforms and hope we see this reflected in any future ranges - together with Aussies, Kiwis, Brits, Chinese, et al. I'd also like to see not only the Pacific covered, but all the conflicts in Asia from around 1925 up to around 1945.
I love K&C's NA figurines and vehicles, but the early Asian wars are of particular interest to me, so I have my fingers crossed that we'll see some offered this year.

PS. I must stop taking these "Nice Pills" in the mornings.:eek::)

Cheers

Rick - Thanks for your question. I collect more than just WWII, so I decided to collect the Pacific Line. It is smaller in scope then the European Theatre and I liked the K&C IWJ figures. I have been watching your Pacific line with much interest, as the figure scultping is much improved. I need to find a dealer in Texas, so I can see them first hand. Figarti and K&C appear to be the leaders in the Pacific releases, and it would be nice if both manufacturers went with the same scale. The problem is I think K&C has gone from a 1/30 scale on its original offerings to closer to the 1/32 scale with the last round of IWJ figures. (the figures are smaller) This being said and with costs going always up, matching the size of K&C is what I would recommend, and I think that scale is closer to 1/32. Wishing Figarti a great 2008! BOYER

I started collecting the K&C Pacific line way back. I still have the old Japanese and U.S. Marine sculpting. I started expanding with the new releases but held back (on the new Jap sets) because I think KC will not be expanding this series. Figarti moving into FM30 for this series will be great! Looking forward in seeing more, i.e., 105 Howitzers, Jeeps, Personnel Carriers. How about Figarti expanding the Bataan series on the U.S. & Filipino side?...Malinta Tunnel, Corregidor Shore Batteries, "Death March" McArthur's PT Boat #66. USAFEE forces still sporting WWI helemets & uniforms...etc.

Rick, if you are in the Philippines, there's a great private Museum in Makati, Philippines (Ayala Museum). They have a great diorama exhibits of WWII in 1/6 scale

I love that sight, I have it bookmarked and periodically go there and just drift around, Totally Awsome Dioramas.
By the way I recently went to a hobby shop and they had a radio controled PT for $400.00. I asked about it because it looked close to 1/32, perhaps larger, he said it was 1/4 scale, can anyone translate?

I hope this will inspire you U.S. Navy PT Boat's in the Pacific..another great series:

YEEEEEEESSSSS....!!!!!
NP this is exactly the kind of thing I envisage when I keep blethering about how much I'd like to see an Early-War Pacific range. Thanks for the link. Supposed to be working right now but I've bookmarked the website and shall definitely return to it when I get the chance.
Thanks again.

Hmmm....wonder if I might start posting endless lists in the Suggestions Thread of the K&C section. I love North Africa but Early-War Pacific has an equal attraction for me.

Ray, I would imagine that he meant 1/4 scale equates to 1/25th (ie. 4 x 25 = 100) which would as you say looks larger than 1/32nd.

Jeff,
Thanks, that sounds about right, a very impressive model.
