Del Prado 'Men At War' series question (1 Viewer)

Hi guys,

Well all I can say is wow, you guys certainly know your stuff. I personally hadn't ever heard of the K&C range, until now of course. I certainly love my MAW collection, I mean as a younger lad I had to save my $15 each week to buy them, and was strict on myself so that I didn't miss a single one.

One thing I did want to clarify though was the insurance thing. As I am a collector of many figurines, a lot that dont have anything to do with TS, I've always listed them on my house insurance for peace of mind.

Thanks for all your input, advice and information, but you have me in a small spot of bother now, do I finally open them all up and display them in a nice display case like redhugh?? (which I must say looks very good indeed :) ) I guess everyone has their own thoughts and opinions on that.

Thanks again guys,
Gage.

They usually conform to 1/30. But the egyptians are really small 1/40? Some of the cavalry are 1/32.

You said it all in regards the rest of your observations. But some of the figures are great for repainting and filling in a void.

RED: That one MP looks like Andy! What number is the traffic controller?

Now that you say it, it does look very like him:D:D

The traffic controller dosen't have a number , just a description, from the Del Prado Firefighter range,
FIREFIGHTER, FEUERSCHUTZPOLIZEI, FIRE DRESS (GERMANY), 1940
Its a top quality figure:cool:

Hi Gage, I agree that they should be listed on a policy, but I don't think it's worth paying an extra premium unless you have a large and expensive collection.

Opening the packets has little affect on the value of this range and I think you should get them out and display them and read the magazines as well.

I'm with Oz on this. It doesn't appear as though these will acculmalate value in the long run, just too many produced I guess, and as there seems to be little difference re open or unopened package, I'd say get 'em on display! :)

njja/Simon

Thanks guys; As I said if I'm wrong I'll be corrected-and rightly so

However as a 1/32/54mm collector they are too large for my troops-bought a couple of their civil war cavalry guys way back when which I picked up for a buck-placed them on the battlefield and they were massive! horses looked like brewery drays in comparison-quickly sold them on.

I'm glad you mentioned the hit and miss paint finish- the two Rebs and horses I bought were pretty dreadful and would have needed a definite repaint if I had kept them. I was going to mention that in my first post-but one thing I have learned on this forum is prudence-one members criticism is sometimes taken by other members as a personal insult:confused:. It wasn't me who mentioned the paint finish on some of them first guys:D:D

njja your shots do indeed show a good match with 1/30 scale figures thanks for the info.
Reb

Reb,

You're never wrong. :)

Re the scale, they're bang on 1/32. I know cause I compared them to Conte SOS which are also 1/32.:p

Most (MAW and Napoleonics at least) are 1/30, although the lastest Cavalry through the ages seem closer to 1/32. Not got any Civil War I'm afraid.

Yeah, I'll take the hit for the paint remarks :p., but there are a fair few that are not far off the K&C mark for the same time period, and a heck of a lot cheaper. And with the prices on the second hand market coming in cheaper than castings, well, you can't go far wrong.

Cheers
Simon

Firefighter range? Aw nuts! How or where did you get one and when? That is a very nice one.

Michael:

Sent me a note tomorrow and I'll send you a picture of one of the cool Firefighters.

I hunted them down a couple of years ago, and finally pulled one from
Ebay-France

I got outbidded a few times on ebay for the firefighter and had given up until I saw this site http://www.delpradosoldiers.com/ The alpini soldiers and wild west figures are there as well:)
