An 8th Army Armoured Column arrives at a small village somewhere in the Libyan Desert 1942.

Excellent, a Jakob specialty. The backdrop supports this wonderful diorama. Once again the LOJ figures fit a desert scene so well. The Palms are interesting, look quite realistic with the lower dead fronds. It does not get any better than this. Quite a lot of time, work and money to bring this scene together Tom, but you are now reaping the rewards. Very nice. Robin.

Brilliant all round mate where did you get that backdrop it is a beauty.

Thanks Robin. Yes, the desert buildings are made by Jakob but the rocky outcrop, well, road, palms etc were made/put together by me. I made it to go with the dio that I purchased from Jakob.

Must be hot...............but it is cool ^&cool

Thanks Mate.

Very nice, it looks fantastic.:salute::

Thanks Matt.

got to be proud of that one , like a work of art . Graham

Thanks Graham.

Thanks mate and I got it from a train supplier in the UK. It's 1.5 metres long by 38cm high. I'll email the website if you like?

Nice setup and pictures.:salute::

Thanks Cruelios and thanks to everyone else for the likes.

Tom

Fantastic dio it does look like the scenery and villages I remember driving through in Libya.

Hi Tom,

I always get excited when I read a title with the word 'desert'. Nice! This is a first class diorama; very realistic! I appreciate the inclusion of the civilian figures in your dio; something that I tried after seeing an old K&C Collector dio:

Desert Village (1) by Western Outlaw, on Flickr

While all the shots look great, this one catches my eye with the civilians:

Your village looks superb. Is that custom? Overall, a top notch scene! I want some new DAK now (my British 8th is pretty well stocked from the last releases).

Excellent Tom! Great set up and use of your EA sets along with the LOJ figures. It all goes together so well. Love the dio by Jakob. After seeing this and some of Robin's recent dios, I feel the need to look into adding something from Jakob to my collection. Thanks for posting the photos of this display.

Great scene Tom, always like your armor displays. Wonderful bldgs and backdrop. Chris

Thanks Steve and that's great that my diorama resembles actual scenery in Libya. I always strive to achieve realism as best as possible.

Thanks Rob and no, the village wasn't custom made but an "off the shelf" purchase from Jakob. Yeah, you and me both on wanting more AK, hopefully Andy will release the AK Adler Halftrack and some figures this Thursday.

Thanks Duke, your welcome and you'll be happy if you purchase a dio from Jakob, they are awesome to say the least!

'Nuther great armored column, Tom!:salute::

Tom,

nice setup there.... and good to see a couple of modified 'Matildas waltzing' into the village ..... :)

I'm sure that I could also make use of Jakob's creation to display 'Napoleon's Expeditionary Force into The Orient' so let me know if you even want to relocate it 'down south' ???

Well Done,

John

Hi Guys, hi Tom,

Congratulations on yet another "desert storm" of a great display and diorama.

Tom like me, you definitely believe "that while a few figures look good... add some relevant vehicles and they look even better... Put all of them into a great diorama / display..." and now you're talking!!!

Yourself and many other collectors most definitely see the additional advantages of producing scenes and scenarios that tell a multitude of stories in exciting and creative ways.

The boys down in Brisbane are "past-masters" at this as are collector / modellers such as Robin, Duke, Jakob, Guy, Wayne, Kevin, Western Outlaw, and many, many others too numerous to mention.

Well done lads, one and all, keep 'em coming!

Best wishes and happy collecting.
Andy
