Desert ruins (1 Viewer)

really due to the last John's Club figures I'd like to try my hand at building the Rorke's Drift hospital, a crazy project! ...mah!

Carlo...your Sudan/Nile building just keep getting better and better...you now have the makings of a nice little village to display your JJD figures...excellent work...

Very nice Desert buildings....I like your style!!!!...Please dont forget to show us the finished Diorama.

Steve

Carlo,

I always look forward to what you have built. Your newest structures are superb. I would like to see them all together in a village setting. Again, thanks for showing what you do.

Steve

Your attention to detail and the tricks and techniques that you use to get there, are fantastic.
Always look forward to seeing your "works of art"
Larry

Many thanks to all for your comments, your kind support is a great incentive for me to do even better!
Carlo

Thank you for the close up of the palm trees. They are really detailed. I would love to be able to find some of these.

If anyone recalls who makes them, please let us know.

Matthew

Hi...Dont know if you already got your answer but try JG Miniatures..He makes some great Date Palms and is an easy Guy to deal with!!.

Steve

Carlo, your structures are spectacular, you are a true artist, nobody makes desert buildings as nice as yours.

Outstanding work, you should be proud.

oh - you have to keep going now. Those roof tops are looking lonely.

You know what this set up reminds me of? The old black and white movie where the unit has to go into town to repair downed telegraph wire. The town looks deserted, but soon the enemy swarms out from everywhere and there is a great fight / chase over the roof tops. Yes, i cannot recall the title since a lot of the old errol flynn movies bleed together as my memory fads with age. But i think everyone recalls something similar in one of the desert movies like gunga din or such.

This would look so cool with swarms of natives and some british trying to retreat in good order. The nice thing is that john is releasing a lot of good natives this year, so you will be able to fill this set up as much as you like.

Again, really nice stuff.

Matthew

you are describing gunga din, my dads favorite movie. In the 60's he would get my brother up to watch that or some of the classics like charge of the light brigade, they died with their boots on, horse soldiers or beau geste. Why don't you try your hand at the fort in beau geste or the lahara fort from errol flynn's movie the charge of the light brigade

Hawkeye, really I thought about the fort Sahara and I started to download some images from the web, before or after I'd like to start it but it would be nice a a new series on the Foreign Legion!
In the meantime I'm glad to show you the building number nine...Sailors against Mahdists!
I tried to hand a new wall that seems goes quite well with the village.
Carlo

Carlo...you new building is beautiful...you must have enough for a very nice village now...I like the architectural designs you use...they are very unique...

You really do have to appreciate the wonderful lines, portions and architectural features of Carlo's pieces. As for myself, I am now in the middle of designing a totally butt-ugly barracks, lacking any architectural grace, for the basement display:rolleyes2::rolleyes2::rolleyes2:. Plus, look at the quality of those palm trees.

For the first time, seriously thinking about going Nile!!!

I built enough houses to try to set up a little village,
.......some Gordons fight among the walls against the warriors who come,
cheers
Carlo

I would like them all Carlo, what a great talent you are, wished you worked for one of the TS makers, my order would be in, thanks for showing. Cheers, Robin.

That is really great stuff. Now you just need to fill the streets with Sudan Dervish figures and give the Brits some more targets of opportunity. Well done!

Matthew

Carlo...

MAGNIFICENT!!!!

that is a gorgeous village you have made...your work is so nice...and you are so fast...

everything looks great...

now you need to buy lots of Mahdist and Gordons to fill it...

GREAT WORK!!!!

Carlo

You are the Alberti and Bernini of scale model buildings. Your village is spectacular in every sense of the word.
