Nice work, Wayne.:salute::

Found a color backdrop that you can try:

The image above can be enlarged considerably without noticeable pixelation.

As for the Heinkel, if you don't have one laying around the man-cave, Google yourself an overhead view.

Remove the background, and insert it as a layer beneath the '109.

Ought to look cool.

Moe, you want me to shoot you an overhead view of my K&C Heinkel HE111? With your ability to photoshop you can probably reproduce the whole original in color.:salute::

Hi Louis,

Sure, we can turn this into a teachable moment! :)

Okay,

I'll have my son Alec (a far better photographer), take some overhead views of the HE111.

Louis, a request...

Could you ask Alec to shoot the model against a white background, a sheet perhaps, towel, or poster-board?

It'll make it easier to make the bomber layer transparent.

Louis,

These should be fine. :)

Please thank Alec for me!

I e-mailed them to you, and passed along your thanks to Alec.

Got 'em, Louis!

For our other readers...

Basically, what I was suggesting to Wayne was creating a pic made up of three layers.

One layer would be an aerial view of the Thames River in London, a second of his model '109, and, thanks to Alec, a third of a He111.

To make the three pics mesh together, visually, I deleted the backgrounds from both Wayne's and Alec's model pictures.

Then I layered the model pics over a Google image of London.

When the three images are combined, this is the product:

I do this kind of thing all the time with my models.

Basically, it frees me from being constrained by the size limits of backgrounds that I experienced in the past.

In fact, I recall making that exact comment to a forum friend 2-3 years ago.

That's it for the graphics lesson, folks.

Now, Wayne can have his thread back!!!:redface2:

Looks great Moe.

Thanks Matt,

Here are Wayne's and Louis' model pics on a different background:

About the only limit on the background is what you can locate and frame up using Google maps.

Quite a tool there.

For kicks you could toggle on the historical imagery in Google Earth. For the UK it contains aerial photographs from World War 2. I have uploaded an image of London dated to 1945. Thought that it may be useful.
Best wishes,
Benjamin
