Earlier this week I posted a dio thread on the K&C boards depicting their new Gettysburg cavalry release. Over the last couple of days I received a PM and two e-mails from three fellow members asking me how the foot figures compared with the new Britains cavalry in height and girth. I promised them I'd shoot some pictures next time I was in my work-den, having now done that I thought there maybe another couple of you on here who might be interested in the comparison (I did say might
)
Nevertheless for the guys who asked here's a couple of comparator shots. I don't know about release dates Stateside but I have only been able to secure Britains Collectors Club Cavalry officer figure and the Union cavalry corporal. Consequently, I have no others to use for the attached (Personal gripe:-I wish Britains could improve getting their product to market quicker as the dealer who sold me the corporal figure at the London show told me we won't be getting any of the new cavalry or ACW character releases in the UK until at least October. It's most probably just me but from the time Britains announces new releases in the Standard or flyers to actually arriving on my battlefield always seems interminable)
Whilst on my feet and although Britains have not announced that they will be producing a dismounted Custer figure here is a clutch of Civil War Custers. I do in fact have five of him in my stash-but two of them have gone AWOL and failed to muster for the shoot. Take a look at them. Now I will admit it's a typical arrogant "Boy General" stance but all five of my figures have practically the same Harpers static pose for having his photograph taken and there's not a lot else you can do with him.
Maybe the pose allows you to have him observing or listening???
But "Little Autie" couldn't keep still during the war even during battle counsels and he never listened to anybody-he was an action man who was unhorsed during his many charges/battles more times than any other Union general. So Ken if you are contemplating a dismounted Custer anytime in the future can you change the pose. Personally I would rather have him sitting on his butt after losing yet another horse yelling at his poor sergeant to bring him a steed
