Dispatches are up! (1 Viewer)

The Good:

Italians!
Semovente M40-75/18 --- AWESOME!

The BAD:

No Italians in action, just parade figures. BORING!

The AK Panzer III has only 1 crewman. I like the old retired one better only the tracks were bad.

LAH are all re-releases of the recently retired badge (since 2003) only added a backpack. BORING!

No Goose stepping LAH

No Luftwaffe parade figures/Standing Luftwaffe Band

Large number of releases and some pretty nice stuff. The Crusaders look good. I like the archers and mounted knights. I also like the armor but it's not on my radar as I don't do desert. For the Italian fans, this is a good dispatches. I think KC really captured the real Il Duce on that horse. Retirements didn't hurt either. I'll be waiting on those knights. -- lancer

It's real nice. I'll be getting one. I'm surprised they did the shorty though. I thought for sure we'd get a longy this time.

Most of the Panzer IIIs in North Afrika were Ausf. G and the first 1/3 of the Ausf J production, both with the 50 mm KwK 38 L/42 gun as modelled by K&C. This was the most common gun on the AK Panzer III in North Afrika. The longer 50 mm KwK 39 L/60 gun was put on the later 2/3 of the Ausf J production (late 1941 - 1942) and the Ausf L and Ausf M, but most of these went to the Eastern Front to take on the more heavily armoured T-34 and KV-1 tanks. Although there were some KwK 39 L/60 Panzer IIIs at El Alamein

I'm not sure I "get" the bridge- I am assuming you can lay it across the walkways between the jetty sections??? Anyone else have any opinions??

i agree, the Panzer III looks good.

i hope more remakes will be scheduled progressively.

The Panzer III looks nice and will add that as i missed out on earlier version.Good news for all you guys waiting for Italians!:)I love the colour and poses in the Crusader range, they really are eye catching arn't they.Lots of WW2 retirements this month but fortunately i have the Bulge and US Airborne figures that are going, will pick up the General Alexander set i think as thats been a set i've meant to add for sometime.

Rob

Its encouraging to see Andy remake old favorites as there are several other vehicles I'd like to see updated like the GMC Jimmy 2 1/2 Ton Truck. This month will be a much needed breather for me after being clobbered two months in a row with awesome Civil War releases.

Well said. The theme this month seems to be updating and improving old retirements ( ex. LAH and AK pieces ). I too really like seeing updates and significant improvements over old K&C releases that I've missed or wanted but was unwilling to sell my kidneys to purchase one on Ebay! I've really wanted to see a Pz. III redone so thats great. I'd also like to see a Skdfz. 222 4 wheeler, Skdfz 231 8wheeler and Bren Gun Carrier to name but a few.
No significant damage on the retirements, so this month for me is a nice breather from all the D-Day purchases. Congratulations to those who lobbied so hard for Italians. I'm sure its only the beginning of more great things to come! I like the Italian SPG, looks a little like a STUG. I like the new Crusaders too and the tents are a great additions for dioramas.
As an aside, while I appreciate K&C telling the story of WWII I really think the RC Priest flashing the Hitler salute is pushing things too far. I think a better use of a Vatican priest would have been just standing there without that gesture or perhaps attending to a wounded soldier, reading the last rights etc. :(

Hmmm, a new Bren Gun Carrier, now there's a good idea.

I'm impressed by the updates not being simply higher quality duplicates rendering the originals as undesirable relics. The new Panzer III has better detail (especially the tracks and wheels) and camo, but the original has a crewman hanging out of the hatch giving the piece something extra.

not a desert collector but like the italians...the priest will be transported to the eastern front to tend to the spirtual needs of the spanish legion and the Italian Officer with Map will also find himself transferred to "Armata Italiana in Russia", ARMIR ;)

Big surprise, I love the new LAH's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agreed, I really thought the new marching LAH would be goose stepping. I like the old version without the packs, plus I just purchased 20 of the rifleman not too long ago. Also liked the old Panzer III better with the crew hanging out the side of the turret, was different and seemed more realistic.

You guys may like the old Panzer III. That's nice and we're all glad we have it but there are many new collectors who don't want to pay the ebay price or there aren't enough to go around. So, when you say that the old is better, also think of those who now have a chance to buy, not just the rest of us who were lucky to get it when it was in production.

I guess I fall into the group that started collecting later (last 1 1/2 years), so appreciate the new Panzer III. While I like the crew and stowage on the older model, I personally can't get past the tracks (detail nut!), so wouldn't have purchased it. That said, I do like variations of the same model (FOB and AK for the Panzer IV for example), or different stowage/display options for a single model (wonder if having a tank with swappable turrets would be feasible, long/short barrel, different markings/stowage, etc...).

Irregardless I'm always impressed by the continuing improvement in quality with each release. Keep up the good work Andy!
