Display cabinets (1 Viewer)

Great thread Martyn. Its great to see how you all display your beautiful collections. I tried to get some shots of my cases. I also included a couple of the acrylic steps I use to try and claim more display space from each shelf!

There are Crimean War, Indian Mutiny, NWF, Boer War, Zulu War, Indian Army and Raj sets on display

I intend to rotate the display every 6 months or so.

Cheers

Martyn:)
What a remarkable Trophy collection. Beautifully displayed. This is just a superb example of the hobby. Is the Gordon of Khartoum the Somerset figures? -- Al

Many thanks Al

Yes that is the Gordon of Khartoum set from Somerset. I wanted to have a gloss version of "Gordons Last Stand" and, in my opinion, this is the finest set available

Cheers

Martyn:)

Martyn and Lawrence, you both have some very nice looking cabinet displays. Excellent show . . . .
:) Mike

Thanks Mike. Always look forward to seeing your displays. By the way, how is the China display going?

All the best,
Lawrence

Lawrence,

I like the way you maximise utilisation of space within the cabinets.

It is a great idea to use the set boxes to create a multi-step display.

By the way, you got mail.....I see you keep your letters there too.:D:p

Thanks, Raymond.:)

Raymond,

Unfortunately, I live in an apartment, so space is a premium and as a result I have to be creative with my display cases. As a fellow collector remarked, my displays tend to be rather "dense."

With regard to the letter, it contains some pieces for a set that were missing from a set I purchased from a dealer and he was kind enough to send me the missing pieces. I have the set the pieces belong to displayed in a lower shelf and as I did not want to misplace them, I left them in the envelope. Actually, I did not want to move a bunch of other sets to get the pieces to the right set, and so the pieces have stayed in the envelope for the past five years:eek: So, as you can deduce, I am a pack rat with a lazy streak as well as suffering from OCD :D:p But I am a happy camper:)

Beautiful displays. I also appreciate your US battle rifle display with the Springfield, Krag, '03, and Garand. Nice. -- Al

JW,

I also would like to do a rifle display, but the wife may get some ideas:eek: On second thought, she already has those ideas:p

All the best,
Lawrence

Hi Martyn: Very nice displays and cabinets. I am impressed that you can rotate your collection every six months. It takes me that long to get everything just right. I think that I speak for everyone to thank you for taking the time to photograph and share your your wonderful collection with us.

Hi JW,

Thanks very much for posting the photographs of your very nice cabinets.

I like this side view shot showing the acrylic step displays.

Thanks Lawrence, Martyn, Tommy, Al and Raymond for your nice comments. Yes Lawrence, you are darn right I am making more room! Its a constant struggle. The risers help here and there, but only for single figures. I am working on getting another larger display cabinet, but my wife does not share my enthusiasm. I guess the timing is not quite right yet ;).

Lawrence,

We collectors are certainly faced with some common challenges when it comes to the display of our precious figures.

Like your goodself, I have a big issue with space.....there is just not enough of it. Since most of us keep the boxes of retired sets, this just adds to the space problem.:(

Overzealous housekeeping is a unique issue when I am away at work. To get around this, I have to lock up most of my collection in the "armoury".

I would be very happy if my envelope with spare parts could stay in the same place for 5 years without anyone touching it.:D:p

Anyway, I guess I am a happy camper too.:)

Raymond.

Raymond,

I am at my limit and have begun the unfortunate process of having to divest part of my collection:( Though I somehow seem to manage to find more stuff:D I have a temporary reprieve as my son goes off to college at the end of the month which will provide some temporary storage space:p:eek: Happy collecting from one camper to another:) All the best, Lawrence
