Onto the blocked list he goes, the first. Adiós.

Oh, man,

Putting Mike Miller on a blocked list, that is a good one, lol ^&grin
You got to be kidding, or you really have one extremely “pissed off” day.
Go outside, have a few steps in the yard, breath deeply, in your nose and out your mouth, a few times, then come back and it all will be good :wink2:

I wouldn't give the greedy bastard one dime! He had his chance.

UPDATE:
I received a call this AM from another gent that I do some business with, named Mark.
He is more of a Pawn Shop dealer as opposed to a Antique Dealer but he is a resource for the smaller items and he always can scrounge up strange items if I need them.

Anyway, Dealer 1 has already started to spread a lie about what happened.
Fortunately, the buyer gave me his phone number, since I have additional items that he mentioned was on his "trying-to-find" list."

I asked him if he would mind calling Mark and explain what really happened, which he promptly did that morning.

Bottom line … Mark called back later, as well as three others shop owner here in the Mid-coast, just to say that they didn't believe Dealer 1 and I am welcomed to bring my items to them anytime. ….. (Money talks louder that words I suppose)

Seems I was not the only one this shady "gentleman" :rolleyes2: tried to bully. They relayed some rather disturbing stories about his past dealings … oh well !
I find it hard to believe that I never saw it …

Sad to see that 20 years of a relationship are now down-the-drain.

I wouldn't beat yourself up over this one Larry. I deal with this sort of thing all the time for work and while there is always two sides to a story this guy's behavior so far reflects the type of person he really is.

He doesn't deserve a cent and even if you did compromise and paid him something as a gesture of goodwill I doubt it would resolve matters.

Cheers.

Hello Larry

Interesting story and I hope you get a favorable outcome. This is one of those protocol things I learned about back in the late 90's when I was getting back into the hobby. My dealer at the time was located in Stroudsburg PA. I was in his shop buying something and a customer came in asking to buy some samurai. I had never seen this dealer sell any in my visits before and I had a few spare to sell so me and the dude came to an agreement and money changed hands. I then told him that Michigan toy soldier had several more of the sets and he should try them. The dude left and the dealer laughed and explained to me that he had some samurai to sell and that there are dealers who would be very offended by what I did. He knew I was young and excited and that I was going to spend the cash on sets from him but I think he wanted to see me not get into trouble down the road.

Before I sold my first set here on TF in their classified section I asked Shannon for her approval or if she wanted a commission on it.She said no of course but did appreciate the courtesy. Now that I am older and more business savvy, I can appreciate that brick and mortar stores have their bills to pay as does TF with maintaining the forum and such. Nowadays if I overhear someone looking for a set that i have I ask the dealer if they are ok with me approaching the person about it first. I do it discretely.

It's just one of these unwritten rules. Some folks are more zealous in enforcing it than others. I hope things work out for you.

Hey Chris,
Sounds like things actually worked out well for everyone in your tale.
Very good!

As in many cases, there was a win/lose in these transactions.

I was able to thin out some items that I didn't want any more; the Painting and the Ship Model have new homes with guys who wanted them.
I made some good money which went to new K&C USMC sets; JJD Wildcats and more .... GEORGE (Minutemen) is HAPPY!!!

However, I "had" a good relationship with Bill that is now gone. I used to go down to his shop on weekends, shoot the breeze and relax a bit. Those are now but memories. I may be slow, but I still don't see why all this went down the way it did.:redface2:

Oh well, water over the **** I guess.

Not only did you not owe him anything on the transaction in the strictest sense, as Zach and Brad have both clarified. With this new bit of info, it's pretty clear that his is not a relationship that you should want to keep, either. Shake the dust of his shop from your sandals.

Your reputation is sterling, as evidenced by the responses from the people that dealer has contacted and spun his lie to. That is invaluable.

Prost!
Brad
