I wanted to ask you ...Do you buy the most beautiful figures or the most useful for your displays and dioramas? I try to get both, but after a dio started, my choice goes to the most useful to the dio, so it happens that I buy buy less beautiful figures sometimes...{sm2}

When i collect a range
I buy what i like
I don't have to buy every piece made of that range
RAF is one of them, everything that comes out with
a girl driver is a must
I don't have every piece of the RAF
Just what i like
They are all beautiful to me whatever range there in

MapleLeaf, You are my favorite!. You say it simple and that is it. I need to follow your example more.

Ludwig.

PS: I made a display for you out of my HK...keep watching.

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I really don't know if I would classify a Toy Soldier as beautiful, though?

I guess I am more of a complete-ist (is that a word) in that I try to get multiples of all of the figures in the series. That is just me.
Ludwig’s HK collection, (and his diorama) I would have to say is beautiful. But maybe that is his skill at building and presentation rather than each figure being beautiful.

How do you compare a multicolor figure from the IC of SOHK to a figure from DD or BoB? I bet ya’ that the BoB collectors think that their figure, mostly dressed in white, is just as “beautiful” as the IC or my 42nd Scottish Highlanders.

So I guess I would answer your questions as 90% useful / 10% beautiful

I buy what I like. When I have a dio in mind I choose from the troops I have available at that moment . Sometimes when the dio is coming along I see I need to buy some extra figures that I think will fit in nicely..

Well I just buy what I find to be beautifully useful......:wink2:

I always agree with you, Larry:salute::

Bit of both, sometimes I think I make myself think 'They'd be perfect in that diorama!' just because I like the look of them haha!^&grin

never thought of military figures as beautiful or useful. I buy purely from an interest in miltary history.

i agree with Mitch on the buying from interest in military history. However there are some range like the Old HK range which i bought mainly for the sake that the figures are beautiful and unique to start with. For useful figures most would fall in the war diorama scenes where there are some figures like the mechanics of the planes who are just useful to have and do add on the beauty to the collected Warbirds. End of the day the size of my wallet decides….. and the urgency to finish up certain dioramas.
