I collect both, but I prefer gloss, because I like my figures to look like toys (though I start with castings, or buy figures, that are as detailed as possible-eg, Tradition, Imrie-Risley, Puchala).

I have some matte figures, especially King-White (Reeves), Frontline Colonial Classics, BlueBox, but generally, if I want a subject in matte, I'll do it as a scale model and start with a plastic kit.

Prost!
Brad

I'm 52 and have never bought a glossy figure.I like dioramas and think they are more realistic in matte.

I'm 39 and can't get enough of the Zulu war, in GLOSSY. I prefer glossy because of the nostalgia and the time period. Mike

I collect gloss Zulu War Figures, I prefer the tradition behind gloss figures, but I also collect K&C Vehicles.

I am 45.

I prefer matte than gloss. Gloss just doesn't go good with my kind of figures.

I'm 56 and I collect mostly matte but also some gloss. Matte manufacturers I collect are KC, JJD, CS, Britains, ONWTC. The gloss are mostly Britains but include Somerset and Trophy although the last 2 are not "active" status (collected years ago, no recent additions). -- lancer

I just noticed this thread again and noted that I had voted but not commented earlier. Suffice it to say that I contradict the premise.;)

These days with the exception of restoring or re restoring thanks to a move,,old Britains ,almost all matte,,,age is classified

Zulu Gloss, but I also collect WWII matte.

I love the look and appeal of Gloss, but I am mostly an AWI / War 1812 collector and never found to many figures done in the gloss.

Habits have changed a bit since voting. I now collect glossies, although I still collect matte tanks and aircraft. Have gotten into Regal/SoW and have all but stopped matte figures. -- Al
