My Dad just gave me the AK 88 with four man crew from The Collectors Showcase. I like KC's AK collection, as it offers more figure options, do they work well together?

Collector's Showcase figures are substantially larger than K&C figures. They are about 1:24 scale, while K&C are about 1:32 scale. I don't think they would work together, unless you put them far apart on a diorama.

That 88 set is quite a good fit with the K and C stuff actually. It was the earlier CS stuff that was much bigger. The facial features are a little different though. The 88 gun itself is a lovely piece. Alex posted some comparison pictures earlier which you should look up.

Not true at all Louis, your refering to their first release over a year ago when they tried a larger scale than K&C. The newer stuff like the Afrika Corp and the upcoming Arnhem is great for K&C. The scale is bang on. The 88 is the best I've seen, I also bought the MarkI its a beauty. I talked to the owner at Chicago this year and saw the new Arnhem range, its a great fit. K&C rocks, but I certainly intend to add Showcase items to my displays.

From what I've seen the vehicles should be fine and I have heard many good things about the 88. The figures though are dreadful. However, they're a relatively new player in this market so we should give them time to improve.

Sorry, I had only seen ones that were substantially larger. I haven't seen ones that were compatible with K&C. I defer to the folks who have more knowledge of Collector's Showcase's more recent releases. The Afrika Corps 88 I saw was a lot larger.

:) CS 88th Gun is Fine' except the Figure's are too small! Andy's 88th Gun WS052- is Excellent it offers the AN0 Towing Trailer's! But Both of these Guns, could be Set-Up in a Great Diorama! Also, I must say I'm looking forward to a Possible NEWER Version of 'TOBRUK ', and 'EL ALAMEIN' in the Future with MORE Beefy Figure's, and More INFANTRY Figure's, and ARMOR!

I have the Collectors Showcase Afrika Korp figures, to say they are dreadful is absolutely absurd. They are excellent, stylish and work exeptionally well with the 88 and especially with the motorcycle ( first piece I bought ). So we agree to disagree. I saw the new Arnhem stuff at Chicago and it really blew me away, I pre-ordered most of it. Its superior to HB and in some ways is better than K&C ( animation and sculpting wise no doubt). Although I am a very big K&C fan, I'll be snapping up Showcase Arnhem thank you very much.

I'm sorry but I've seen the figures and the only thing they're good for is an Indiana Jones diorama ;). As far as a comparison to HB or any of the other major toy soldier companies they're not even close. If I had to rate figures within the 1/30 scale, it would be as follows: K & C, Honour Bound, Figarti, and the CS. However, Figarti, based on their V2 figures is coming on. Although I may have some quibbles, here and there, about K & C armor, there is no doubt they are the best figures, by a mile. To even compare CS to K & C figures is a bit mind boggling. CS has very nice vehicles, etc. but their figures have a lot of room for improvement.

Zombie Nazi AK! And who is going to be firing a MG with one leg raised? To be fair I have not seen the new stuff but please do not say these figures compare in any way to KC. The 88 looks nice, but repaint a KC gun crew to man it!

I just said the 88 itself was good. I agree the features are a little off, but the crew for the 88( The only CS AK stuff I have are reasonable). To me the million dollar question is, how is K and C going to respond. They seem to have matched all their rivals offerings over the last 18 months (WWI for Britains, LRDG for Figarti and Tiger tank for HB) Can we expect a DAK 88 from K and C in Feb/March 2008. Andy has apparentky said no but with the ongoing demand for the 88 and the prices commanded on e bay for the retired ones who knows.

He doesn't look so bad to me, maybe not matinee idol material, but nice animation. He may just be running with his finger on the trigger just in case.

I seen the CS vehicles and figures at Chicago this year.
Their vehicles are great, however I believe they are a bit larger than K&C,s.
Their WW2 figures are to cartoonish for my taste.
I will say I really liked their Civil War figures.
What this adds up for me is I will not be buying them.
Call me a homer, but if supposidly 1-30th vehicles and figures are not size compatable with K&C, I don,t want them.
Thats what I like about the new Figarti 1-30th, they fit right in.
Just one mans opinion.

The figure above looks okay - not great, but not quite terrible either. The only time most german soldiers would carry their machine gun at the hip would be if they were assaulting a position, which this figure seems to be trying to illustrate. Normally though regulation had one grabbing the bipod with one's free hand, not the barrel, though anything could happen in the heat of battle.

The only time I've seen CS's figures in person was their American airborne pack howitzer set. The zombie faces didn't bother me as much as the fact that the howitzer itself was 2 sizes too small, both for CS's larger figures or even K&C's figures for that matter. It was like a little pea shooter.

While CS's WW2 may not compare with K&C's WW2, from pictures I think their civil war looks very strong, especially the cavalry which seem to have some of the best poses and horses I've ever seen in the hobby.

K&C and CS are currently compatible by size but the CS figures are straight out of the Night of the Living Dead in terms of faces and hands--probably the worst on the market.

Yikes! Look at how long the legs are and how short the arms are on the CS figure all the way to the left of the photograph!

Your too funny. In regards to Showcase the photo is excellent, they look quite good. Oh well to each his own, your comments are pretty over the top though. Yet you have them in the photo? Why would you buy " the very worst figures on the market?"
