Does Size Matter? (1 Viewer)

Yes me too, even if I'm not buying the product I find these discussions fascinating.

Ok so as Terry's thread is about scale, can I ask you guys a question?.If you were making a dio featuring K&C or Figarti figures and you wanted say a crashed Kubelwagon or Tank (model kit) in the background, what scale would you go for?.

Rob

Same size or a bit smaller unless it is the central focus of the scene. In that case it should be a full 1/30. K&C made 3 wrecked vehicles several years ago. The wrecked stug is much smaller than their recent Afrika Korps stug - about 1/32 vs 1/30 scale. Works good but only in the background and not with another stug in the scene.

Thanks Oz.I have made plenty of Tamiya 1/35 scale models and figures over the years and was wondering if one of these would work in the background,in fact thats probably what I should have asked in my original question!.

I thought if I made the model myself I could include more damage, wear and tear etc.

Rob

Yes, I'm certain there would be more damage in that case. :p:D:D

When I started this thread, the intention was to have a general discussion on scale differences between all manufacturers and also between models by the same manufacturer. But it very quickly shifted into the old argument on FL figures size, now extended to the scale of the AFVs. I forget who said in a post a few months ago that once the FL stug came out, we would know for sure about the scale because unlike a person's height and body shape which differs between individuals, the size of the stug is known and the model can be accurately measured. To the person who said the issuing of the stug model would end the debate - you were wrong :(:D

Terry
Actually I am the bloke who said that and it assumed three obvious requirements, 1) actual specifications for the appropriate Stug, 2) an accurate measurement of the model and 3) a lack of bias. So far only number 1 has been satisfied.;)

This Stug has to be the most divisive AFV release ever,I can't wait to see what the fuss is about!:).Can someone tell me what they think of the paint job, weathering, detailing etc?.

Well, maybe 1-1/2 because I think I measured the K&C stug accurately :D

Indeed you may have Terry. Actually I was referring to the FL model which was the subject of the original comment so I think we are still at 1 although the photo evidence to date does strongly support the accuracy of the FL figures and associated Stug.;)

Rob,

Rather than going down to 1/35, you could pick up 21st Century or FOV pieces at 1/32 (approx ) which would be nearer to K&C stuff.
It's comparitively inexpensive and so shouldn't generate as many tears if you decide to 'rough it up' a bit.

The FOV stuff is pretty good for background on a good sized display area and there is a good variety of AFVs at 1/3 of the price of a comparable K&C model, although I would hesitate to use them as a major part of a display because of the size difference. They would also match up better with the earlier 1/32 sized K&C AFVs or the Figarti Tiger IMO.

Another good idea, hadn't thought of FOV and like some of their stuff.I think the ME109 I used was 21st century. It wouldn't matter as it will be beaten up a bit, thanks Simon gives me another option.
