"Don’t want no Merc… don’t need no Maserati too!" (1 Viewer)

Years ago I used to wargame at a club that become some divided about figures, periods, historical versus Sci-Fi/fantasy that the arguments culminated in the club imploding! Ever since I've shied away from getting in to such discussions about what is "best of breed" preferring just to enjoy the diversity and splendour this aesthetically pleasing hobby brings to me as a diversion form the realities of life. If this thread is a micky take and everyone is taking it as good banter then fine, otherwise it just seems to be a vehicle for winding a lot of people up!

Out of idle curiosity what manufacturer do think could be a Jeep?

This thread is classic forum stuff...

Andy being overly sensitive (Come on, your products are great - let it go!!!)

Brad being anything other than a moderator (just admit you worship KC!!!)

Oberstoskar having a pop at KC (Does he work for First Legion!!!)

Ron writing in bold (does he have poor eyesight!!!)

:D:D:D
Interesting observations but frankly I don't think 1st Legion needs the help.;):D

Just an observation , but times have changed.
At one time there would be only one car you would want your product compared to.
Rolls Royce.
No-one even mentioned it here.
:D
I am not sure I agree with that mate; Rolls was never known for its performance cars.;) I did mention Jaguar however.:D

Got it in one! This is not the first and won't be the last........

Jeff

Btw, are you going to the London show on Saturday?

Hi Jeff

Yes I am and can't wait!! I'll be driving up!

I understand there is an informal gathering at the bar at 12.30, will you be there?

With the exception of your *****sments of First Legion (overly generous) or St. Petersburg (fair) that's ridiculously harsh.
....
Well he noted that it was HIS opinion, to which he is entitled. If you have a different one Louis, fine, but I must observe that it is rather harsh as well to even suggest his view is less legitimate than yours. No one would dispute your extensive understanding of the history of this business but much of our appreciation for these figures is strictly a matter of taste. Personally, I find his characterization of the relative merits of 1st Legion understated since I think they produce a relatively better product than Aston and I think they are more different from their competitors than you suggest. Of course you are free to feel otherwise but we all do understand your long time commitment to K&C. This is fine for you but those of us who chose otherwise are no less worthy.;) Frankly this whole discussion is absurd and once again triggered but an overly sensitive reaction to a personal opinion. Gazza was quite right on that one.

Will be there around 10.30 and at the bar at 12.30. I can't wait either :D

Jeff

Yes the wheels roll and due to its low production numbers this will be a SL release. Also the only color it comes in is red due to the shortage of green. :)

but for me the important question is will the hatches open and close:D

You ain't that old, so it must be from something else. Are you still listening to the politician's promises? That BS will make you go deaf , dumb , blind and broke.:D

There are other things that can make you go blind
So I am told

You are absolutely correct that this is all wrapped up in opinion, and has brewed a tempest in a tea cup. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and people's opinions can differ. It is my opinion that his opinion was way off, and I stated my opinion. That is no more or less valid than his opinion, or your opinion, or anyone else's opinion. This is all subjective. The only "opinion" that truly counts in this hobby is the one expressed by collectors via their pocketbooks. I make no bones of the fact that I am very close friends with Andy and Gordon Neilson, and have been a great admirer of their products for many years. Accordingly, I am certainly partial to their products. However, I try as hard as I can to be fair to other manufacturers' products, and rarely if ever post anything about any other manufacturer than it not complimentary (as you may note, I mentioned that I thought First Legion's figures were a bit better than K&C's, and likened First Legion to a special limited edition Mercedes in comparison to K&C being likened to a BMW or ordinary Mercedes). When I perceive a person's post as unfairly sniping at K&C or another company, I will post my contrary opinion. Frankly, if Oberstoskar had likened First Legion to Toyota or Hyundai, I would have made a similar statement in First Legion's defense. I believe that the function of this forum was to permit the various people involved in this hobby to openly discuss products and express their opinions. Accordingly, I will read your opinions, try to keep an open mind, and hope that you pay me the same courtesy. If, however, you think one of my opinions is unfair or baseless, feel free to let me know why. While I may take offense to rude comments, I will never hesitate to read a polite post telling me why you disagree with me.:)

:( I know Figarti Figure's is Smaller than K&C and CS! Rick has to RE-Vamp his Figure's, and BEEF them UP! Also, I know he's a Small Company, but his Price's are Ridiculously Expensive, for the Common Collector! To me No-Vehicle should be Selling beyond $150.00US!

I agree with you on the function and have never had any issues with anyone's expression of their opinions. My observations were directed at the seeming absoluteness of your criticism of the Toyota and Aston Martin comparisons (someone else's opinions), not your opinion of them. My point was to note that it is not so simple or so absolute. Sometimes the shorthand of our comments does not translate so well.;) Honestly, the idea of comparing something as subjective as the quality of these figures to something as subjective as the merits of different automobiles is absurd on its face. For example, there are many people that think the Cadillac currently makes the best sport sedan. Toyota in fact makes a quality product and is quite successful, so it is odd to me that someone would consider that comparison a slight. Of course the idea of being offended by being labeled a Mercedes is beyond laughable and as noted, the comparison may be quite apt. I do think that 1st Legion has advanced the quality of these figures by more than a simple limited edition for reasons that I have elaborated several times already so there is no need to repeat them yet again.:)

Sorry John i don't agree here.Whilst some vehicles are indeed expensive $150.00 or £105 really is not a huge amount and not realistic.I think a Tank at around the £120-£150 is a fair price. But then there are others like the latest KT coming in at about £190,lot of money but an excellent Tank. All depends on how much each person wants it and is willing to pay?.

Figarti's Grant is a classic example.A whole lot of wonga but a stunning Tank, imho.:)
