Martyn,
I think you've got the whole Dorset Offering for the period! Very nice collection! Can you give the background again on when, how and where you obtained these beauties? I'd love to hear the personal history behind them!

Hi Mike

I had always loved the Zulu War era, ever since seeing the movie “ZULU” back in the ‘60s

Way back in 1991 I happened on a model shop in Guildford, Surrey that stocked Dorset toy soldiers. This tied in quite nicely with me having paid off my mortgage which in turn gave me extra money to revisit my childhood hobby of toy soldiers.

I next found a shop in Aldershot called Concorde Models which carried a far larger range of toy soldiers. Here I was introduced to Trophy Models and one thing led to another which finally led to MKL the rest is history:cool:

Martyn,
Wonderful story.... including the final mortgage payment:cool:
And this is really special (The photos) because I have a bunch of single figures that I've accumulated over the moons, and I recognize a bunch now as Dorset(being that they aren't ID'd on the bottom) Thanks for the photo reference extravaganza!

I own both of these. The Wessex Lancers are easily my favorite gloss set. The Dorset Guards are more simplistic and smaller......Michael

Martyn,
Of course, being your biggest fan, I love these sets also. I have the two NNH sets, but I have an officer with binos in the second set. I'm not sure he was in the set originally, I'll see if I can capture him. Pour it On!

Martyn,
The more I look at this set, the more I wonder if it is in fact Dorset, or maybe their castings. Take a look and let me know your thoughts...Please.
Mike

Hi Mike

That is a nice set but I don't think it is Dorset. I can't find the Officer to compare but the other 3 figures are different. My horse handler has a hole through the palm of his hand (painful, I know:eek:) that allows him to hold the reins of the 3 horses.

Cheers

Martyn:)
